Outfits Not Just Clothes

It can be tricky to build an outfit around "merch" which is usually gimmicky or niche or sports themed.  Florals for spring....groundbreaking. But paired with cowboys boots, and a thrifted cardigan, they are a stylish sight for sore eyes. What a winter is has (and is still) been. But hope, and daylight savings time are on the horizon. Here's a take on transitional dressing as we kick off March!   cardigan-Thrifted from Phoenix Boutique , shirt- Boden (similar here ), skirt & belt -- Amazon , boots-- Coconuts from DSW , bracelets- Nordstrom , mask-- Maskc You may recall these boots from this post . I much prefer them with this silhouette. I think they'd also be great with some dresses this spring.  As for transitional season outfitting, layers are key. I'm rocking a thermal turtleneck, tights, and knee-high socks underneath this top, sweater, skirt combination. Hopefully more regular posting will be happening this month with switching the clocks and brighter days ahead. Thanks for reading!  

For most folks, shorts season runs from May to August, but for this outfitter and a good pair of tights I extend short wears well into fall. Here are some past posts featuring autumnal (and in one case winter) shorts! Fall Shorts , Tweed and Leopard , Statement Sweater .   I recently acquired a new autumnal short that became a go-to October item.  cardigan-- Lara Knit thrifted via Phoenix Boutique , shirt / shorts -Boden, sunnies- Kate Spade , belt / earrings -Amazon, boots- LL. Bean , bag-Zac Posen(similar here ) I love the rich tone of this shirt with the neutral plaid of the shorts. I don't know if both of them being from Boden pairs them together so well, but they nicely compliment each other. And I love how this elbow-patch cardigan can just be thrown over this look for comfy/cozy fall vibes and that it hits right where the shorts end for some proportion play. 

As the bits of scattered leaves in these pics indicate fall is here friends! Autumn is such a rich sartorial season what with prints, textures, and layers.
