Thrifting Trip

I love a good thrift store, who doesn't, and last month I treated myself to a trip to Thriftique with a goal of checking out men's button-downs and jeans and to try on whatever else caught my eye. Here's how I started: Leather Jacket-- Nordstrom , Tunic- WildFang , Leggings- Zara , Sneakers- Vans Men's button-down and jeans. I was looking for men's jeans for a more authentic kind of boyfriend look.  short-sleeve men's button-down with the same jeans A third men's button-down and these women's tie dye shorts. I think the look on my face says that I was enjoying this combo.  Anthropologie Dress, yes it had pockets, but wasn't really feeling it very much at all.  I saw a similar dress out in the wild after my trip, and while I enjoy the color and pattern (it didn't have pockets) I wasn't feeling this as my summer vibe. I was trying to like this dress, thinking I could wear it for work, or maybe even style it down (with the leather jacket from ...

White Denim Jacket Part 1

As of last summer a go-to garment for warm weather has become this pleated skort/tennis skirt. And lately I've been loving to pair it with this white denim jacket. Big fan in general of white denim jackets for spring as seen in this post from two years ago. And I apparently love them for fall as well as seen in this post . 😉 Here, as in previous looks I've kept the outfit to a mostly black and white palette. jacket-J.Crew(similar here ), t-shirt-Stevie Nicks(current merch here  more general options from Etsy here ), skort/hat-Gap(similar here and here ), bag- Everlane , sneakers- Vans I love the graphic aspect of these photos of the cloudy sky against the lush green of Frick Park here in Pittsburgh. It's been a chillier spring than in years past, but we've had a few warm days for bare legs and light jackets. We'll see what the coming summer brings.  Be sure to check back for part 2 of this season's white denim jacket outfits.  And here are some littles that...

Another Dress Three Years Apart

Hello Friends! Since we are in the dark depths of winter, which prohibits good outfitting shooting, I figured instead of struggling to get good pics in waning light, rain, and freezing temps, I'd go back into the archives for another "one dress years apart" post, as I did here .  First up, from a post back in September of 2018 This dress from Target was my way back into workwear after my second baby. These bangs were meant to be a style refresh, again upon returning to work, but in the end, they just became bothersome. Here I'm seeing myself covering up with leggings (most likely as shapewear) and a long cardigan. There's a lot of accessorizing going on with the big belt, necklace, and sunnies. The VANS are pure comfort.  About three years later in this post . Belted the dress again, but went for more delicate jewelry and coordinated by footwear from Born with this bag from Shiraleah . This feels more fresh, more carefree, not as weighted down. Went back to r...

Utility Jumpsuit

I've said it before and I'm saying it again here. When in doubt, jumpsuit it out! In these dog days of summer who doesn't long for that perfect, throw-it-on-and-go piece that requires next-to-no thought, holds up against whatever the day throws at you, and makes a subtle style statement.  Not only does she look cool she mothers too!   jumpsuit- Universal Standard , sunnies- Versace , sneakers- Vans  This jumpsuit for sure delivers on the both the style and functionality fronts. It's an unexpected statement piece, and unlike other knit black jumpsuits that you see so often on these streets ( here & here ), this one-piece has structure and definition. The stiffer silhouette, with snaps, a collar, and pockets provide a lean fit and gives this look a sense of utilitarian authority. I've worn it out and about, as well as to work, and for Mom-ing duties.
