Just a Jumpsuit

When IS a jumpsuit just a jumpsuit?.... Never! A good jumpsuit is EVERYTHING. Preference on "good". An ill-fitting, pulling-at-all-the-wrong-places, contortionist-required jumpsuit or romper is the worst. The worst, obviously after war, famine, and drought. Here I'm living the last few days of school-free summer in this chambray beauty.  jumpsuit/necklace-Banana Republic(more options here and here ), sunnies-Ralph Lauren(similar here ), bracelet- BaYou With Love , bag--Shiraleah(similar here ) , shoes-Born(similar here ) I've mostly worn this jumpsuit as "overalls" as seen here , here , and here . This sunny summer day, I went with the throw-it-on-and-go approach, pairing this one-piece with gold jewelry and neutral accessories.

She's Going to Stevie Nicks, but What is She Going to Wear!

My dear lovely husband for the month of my birth has gotten us two tickets to see Stevie Nicks when she rolls into town here this September!! As any time when plans are made the next question is what will I wear?  Since it's my birthday and it's Stevie I'm thinking I may have to Rent the Runway for the concert. 1.  Adam Lippes Collective This floral number has been on my wish list with Rent the Runway for awhile. Not for any particular occasion, but just as an option come what may. I like the higher neck and the summery feel it has, it's for sure giving me Silver Springs vibes, but is it witchy enough?  2. Maje This midi has side cutouts, sheer sleeves, a half-skirt, and definitely has a dark romance vibe more up the Stevie Nicks alley.  I think also, since the concert is in September the cutouts and lighter fabric would work better in the still summer weather. But I'm not feeling a particular song with this pick, but I think it's an overall solid contender....

The Power of Layers

With winter in full swing it's fun to experiment with layers. Not only are they a practical means of dealing with the cold, but when done well, can also create new shapes and silhouettes. Here I've layered a wrap crop-top over a very warm gingham shirt for a corseting like effect that cinches in this oversized shirt.  coat-J.Crew(similar here ), crop top/boots-Nordstrom(similar here and  here ), gingham shirt-Mango(similar here and here ), skit-Uniqlo(similar here ), sunnies- Diff Eyewear There's a Victorian feel to this silhouette, no? This gingham print makes me think of Anne of Green Gables  especially when paired with this full skirt and lace-up boots.  This coat, that I've had for over a decade(which really speaks to the value of investing in outerwear) "chic-ifies" the over all look, which being in black and white is also kind of edgy. So there's deceptively a lot going on in this outfit, which just goes to show you the power of layers!

Split Skirt, Wrap Sweater, Full Chic

Going back to the office three days a week has been a challenge in regards to shooting outfits. With my husband/photographer working from home we have extremely limited opportunities for pictures, as in times past we would shoot on the way home from work as we commuted together. Now I'm driving semi-solo to and from the office. FYI, my 3-year-old does not take good pictures and can't be bothered with any of it after I pick her up from preschool. So, here we have a rare, yet elegant outfit all the way from last month!!! 😲 sweater-Nordstrom Rack(similar here ), tee-Style Mint(similarish here from Poshmark ), skirt- Thriftique , boots-V ince Camuto from Nordstrom , earrings-- Wisteria Sky Boutique via Etsy , necklace- Banana Republic , rings- Mejuri How ladylike is this?! And while this color palette isn't traditionally autumnal, it does speak to the transitional time of this season, especially with it having been such a warm Sept/Oct here in Pittsburgh. I originally picked u...
