A Sort of Matching Set

I love a matching set for warmer days. Don't get me wrong, a cozy loungewear set is great for curling up when it's cold out, but for being out and about in spring and summer, having a go to top and bottom to just throw on makes outfitting so much easier. I've featured various sets here , here , and here . On this day in May I took a slightly different approach.  sweater / shorts --Quince, tee-Kansas City Kitty(similar here ), sneakers-H&M(similar here ) While this sweater and pair of shorts aren't EXACT matches, the fact that they are from the same brand in the same-ish tone makes them easy pieces to match up. I featured this tee-shirt last June, here . It's a bit more cropped then I normally go for in tees, but these elastic waisted bottoms make for an easy wearing and I love how the graphic is framed when the sweater is worn over the shoulders. This makes for a handy AC trick here this spring and summer. Use the sweater as an "accessory" then pop it ...

Buffalo Plaid Hearts

jacket- BB Dakota via Le Tote , shirt-Gap(more options here ), pants- Uniqlo , loafers-Zara(similar here ), necklace-J.Crew Factory(similar here ) This look was partially inspired by Burberry Spring 2014 Men's collection featured in this post ! Black, straight-cut pants and simple shoes ground the ensemble, then bright and bold layers up top make it into an outfit! You need a strong base when mixing prints, especially such disjointed ones as hearts and plaid. Hearts being more girly and silly, while buffalo plaid is traditionally a man's workshirt print. It's key that both are rendered in similar colors--red & black. It also helps that red and blue are a dynamic color-combo. So, this seemingly simple look really had a lot going on! And yes, I DID wear this on Valentine's day, and yes a heart pattern may be a bit "on point" if you will, but the jacket, menswear-inspired loafers, and simple black trousers kept the l...

Hearts on My Scarf

That's right, these are hearts ♥♥♥ not just dots!  vest-J.Crew(similar here ), sweatshirt/shirt-Gap(similar here and here ), pants-Uniqlo(similarish here ), loafers- G. H. Bass , scarf-Gifted, ring-Jewel Mint(similar here over on Poshmark ) Yes, I featured this vest in yesterday's post . It's such a versatile layering piece and perfect for this time of year. Here, I've paired it with this heart-printed scarf (a gift from my Mother), which nicely mirrors the bird motif on the pants. A hint of stripe from the undershirt can be seen in the closeup shot, for another fall-fantastic print-mixing look!

Daycare-Wear

My maternity leave is shortly coming to an end... :( And while I'm excited to be "returning to the world" I'm also dreading being away from my baby... So I'm consoling myself with organizing her clothes and prepping her outfits for the first week.  Day One : Pure & precious with a ducks-and-turtles one-piece with matching hoodie. Is it a mistake to dress a 3-month old baby in all white for her first day of nursery care with a bunch of other slobbery, snotty babies? Probably, but I want her to make a good first impression.  Second Day : Separates! This is one of her more "frou frou" looks with the hearts and purple. I really love her little pants with their apres ski-ready pattern, and it's hard to see but that onesie is striped, so we have print-mixing!  Day Three : Another one piece, this time with a bit more of a "grown-up" print.  Scandinavian-esque Birds to mix things up.  Day Four & Five : I'm ...

Uniqlo the Japanese Gap

I've been saying for year now that Uniqlo is basically the Japanese version of the Gap and NOW I have proof! Uniqlo This blouse is currently for sale on Uniqlo's website, several years ago the almost exact same shirt was available at the Gap and has been featured several times on the blog. AND how appropriate that it's a heart blouse for Valentine's Day this past Saturday!  Original post here . Original post here .  Post here . Yes, proof positive that Uniqlo is the Japanese Gap, am I right?  Currently I'm eyeing several items from both retailers: Gap Girlfriend Jeans Gap Slim Straight Heathered Pants Uniqlo Stripe Dress Uniqlo V-Neck Cardi Uniqlo Blazer Looks like I'm all about the bottoms from Gap and tops from Uniqlo. AND it looks like my style sense is still in the Valentine's day spirit with all this white, red, and pink!
