April Buys

With some too-good-to-past-up-sale here as of late I've added to my springtime wardrobe with the hopes that Spring will eventual make it's way to Pittsburgh. The forecast is looking good for the rest of this week! I had two main edicts guiding me in the following purchases. 1. Non-Maternity pieces that I could wear now in my 3rd trimester. 2 Potential garments for my return to work in the fall when my body will be in "flux". First up, a few pieces from H&M Long-Sleeved Tunic Olives and military greens are always a favorite of mine for early spring and transitional seasons in general. Loving the longer length of this tunic, which can be worn with maternity leggings now, and trousers in a six months time.  Pull-On Pants Speaking of trousers, hello pull-on pants! I'm a big advocate of pull-on pants for the post-baby body. I have at least half-a-dozen pairs from Uniqlo  and wanted to see how the H&M version holds up. This dark br...

Recent Buys

It's still arctic temps here in Pittsburgh, hence I am still mostly existing in fleece leggings and oversized flannels. In the meantime I've picked up a few keys pieces for warmer, more fashionable days ahead.  Tunic Tee I've had my eye on this top from ModCloth for quite some time. Their post-Xmas sale made it such a great deal that I couldn't resist. I can see this doing a lot of work in my wardrobe, being able to layer it over thermal shirts, under cardigans and button-downs, worn with jeans or knit skirts--more on that to come... Peplum Top For a bit of pretty I also picked up this printed blouse from the MC. I'm not a huge fan of peplum, but the looser silhouette makes me think the fit will be flattering. Overall it feels simple and fresh, no?  Merino Blend Skirt And speaking of skirts, this easy piece from Uniqlo is going to be another great go-to here this winter. Definitely looking to pair it with the olive tunic tee above, as...

To Belt or Not To Belt

A properly deployed belt can make all the difference when wearing an outfit, not just clothes. And, while most times my belt game is en flique(that's the French spelling on "on fleek"), I went back and for with this ensemble... first up the belted version: I like how the belt gives shape to this looser silhouette, but is it too much? And/or is it kind of unflattering?  Now unbelted: These is a bit more casual, but still has impact. Again, I'm wondering which is the more flattering/fetching version?  Detail Shots: Which do you prefer? Belted Unbelted vest-Violeta(similar here ), shirt /bracelets(similar here )/belt(similar here )- Banana Republic Factory , culottes-J.Crew(similar here ), loafers-Sole Society(similar here ), necklace-Le Tote(similar here ),  I'm going back and forth on which version of this outfit I like best. I rocked both during my day at work. Kept things belted fo...

Each year around this time Nordstrom has their HUGE Anniversary Sale . And, unlike other sales in July/August that are reducing summer stock to make way for fall/winter appearal, Nordstom's has amazing deals on coats, boots, trousers etc. It's a great time to stock up on basics and splurge on a few luxury items.  It's also a strategic start to your Christmas shopping . I know, it's only July, but hey you've got to start sometime and why not take adavantage of the savings now?! You'll be grateful you did when December rolls around.  So here are my top gift giving pics from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale : Jute Tote A personalized gift, even one as simple as a monogramed bag, shows you've really thought about that person, and had them in mind for this particular item. It's tempting to stock up on these types of totes, especially at ($20 a piece), but be warned if you end up giving the same bag within your circle of family and friends. They'll...
