Outfits Not Just Clothes

In the words of the comedian Tom Segura "Get Fucking Ready!" It's a new year, and I have no clue what joys, horrors, ups, downs, endeavors, and disasters that await.  The warm weather just keeps hanging on, so even though we are now officially into autumn I'm still outfitting with shorts both for work and casually.  In my last post I added a cardigan to a transitional look with shorts. Here, I've paired a printed button-down with a loose linen-blend trouser short for a more formal feel.  For rolled sleeves here, I flipped up the cuffs and worked them up to the elbow, and then did another fold over above the elbow to secure them. Now that school has started and the smells and feels of fall are on the horizon, I figured I give some pairs of shorts a final wear before storing away my summer gear. This pair of patterned shorts has made a few appearances on the blog back in 2020 and 2021 . Also, this cardi, is made from a sweatshirt-like material rather than a knit, which works great as a transitional piece and feels more durable. For most folks, shorts season runs from May to August, but for this outfitter and a good pair of tights I extend short wears well into fall. Here are some past posts featuring autumnal (and in one case winter) shorts! Fall Shorts , Tweed and Leopard , Statement Sweater .   I recently acquired a new autumnal short that became a go-to October item.  cardigan-- Lara Knit thrifted via Phoenix Boutique , shirt / shorts -Boden, sunnies- Kate Spade , belt / earrings -Amazon, boots- LL. Bean , bag-Zac Posen(similar here ) I love the rich tone of this shirt with the neutral plaid of the shorts. I don't know if both of them being from Boden pairs them together so well, but they nicely compliment each other. And I love how this elbow-patch cardigan can just be thrown over this look for comfy/cozy fall vibes and that it hits right where the shorts end for some proportion play.
