Outfits Not Just Clothes

The rest of this OOTD came together rather haphazardly. Since this frock does not have pockets, I donned this vest. Then I leaned into the rugged boho vibe that was happening with this straw bag and "Jesus Boot" sandals. Since the tassels were more than enough of a statement, I opted for bracelets instead of one of my usual necklaces. Viola folks, a midsummer weekend look with layers, texture, and unexpected accessories!

But, I have been semi-obsessed with it for over a year, as it lingered on my Amazon Wish List. When my brother texted asking what he could get me for Xmas I sent this coat his way. Deep down I needed the push of some one else buying it because it's not the most practical outerwear. Of course style doesn't have to be practical, and while I love this coat, it's not meant for the chilly Pittsburgh winter, nor does it gel with my professional wardrobe all that well. This is a coat for mild, non-work days, that I can throw over my tired old "mom" clothes and feel like I'm stepping out with some sort of quirky style. dress- Wren & Ivory , therma l / flats -Gap, necklace-gifted  I've featured Wren & Ivory on two shopping posts ( here & here ), and now I've finally taken the plunge with this cotton faux-wrap frock. It's hitting most of my must-haves as listed in this post last week. It's nursing-friendly, has pockets, is work-appro, AND is both stylish and flattering if I do say so myself. I layered it with a go-to thermal henley, then added a pop of color with these comfy flats. It's such a boost to find garments that provide solutions to my outfitting needs, and while this dress leans towards a summery/spring style, I can totally make it work for fall/winter. Glad I ordered a size up for the layering potential. 

We are approximately 4 weeks out from Easter and I've started thinking about my traditional Easter Dress options.  You may recall some of my past Easter-time looks here and here . I tend to go for simple, yet striking patterns in unexpected colors. This year, being full-on pregs I'm all for functional options, that aren't necessarily maternity-wear. I'm not 100% sure on what direction I want to take, so I'm putting up these picks for a a vote!  A. The weather is finally starting to break here in Pittsburgh, so OOTDs are coming soon! In the meantime I've started by my Shopping List of Must Haves for 2018. Carrier Bag This crossbody/shoulder bag hybrid from Moop is more than I usually spend on a day bag, but I'm ready to invest and upgrade! The neutral grey and waxed canvas makes this versatile and highly functional, both of which are must-have features for my Must-Haves of 2018, Momma ain't playin!  Waterproof Boot Speaking of functional and versatile, I'm in the market for a black, waterproof boot! This option from Nordstrom has tread and is nondescript is a good way, as in it doesn't look like a snowboot, just a neutral black boot, perfect for the office in winter. I'm very much over wearing a functional pair of shoes to get to work, then changing into a stylish pair for being at work. I want footwear that can serve me all day long.
