Outfits Not Just Clothes

 To kick off the fall/spooky season we headed out for a farm day a few weeks back. This was our second year at Simmons Farm and while the girls were busy in the corn bus, we got a few (very few) outfit pics utilizing this amazing landscape as background.  shirt-Gap(similarish here ), tee- Wegman's , shorts-Levi's(similar here ), boots- Columbia Sportswear I've been a fan of buffalo plaid for years. I've had this particular shirt longer than my second child, perhaps even my first. I featured it in this very old post, here . You can't go wrong with any plaid or flannel for fall, especially for an outdoorsy look. Keeping functionality in mind I went with denim shorts and hiking boots. Over the holidays we stayed close to home, but were able to get outside a bit. Spent most days wearing a version of this outfit. Over the past year I've gone more casual in my looks, but am always looking to elevate your basic sweatshirt and leggings. Well not bare, I'm wearing some Glossier , I'm not insane. As mentioned above, causal/active wear doesn't have to be shclumpy or boring, finding and pairing standard pieces rendered in prints and fun colors takes the boring out of basics. 

I've always enjoyed the outfitting challenges this time of year brings, as we transition from Winter to Spring, it's almost a season of itself--Sprinter jacket-Geoffrey Beene thrifted(similar here and here from Poshmark ), shirt/ boots -Columbia Sportswear (similar shirt  here ), leggings-Old Navy(more options here ), sunglasses-Ralph Lauren(similar here ) I styled this colorblocked matching "set" with a flannel back in the fall, here . For this OOTD now in the midst of the seasonal shift from winter to spring I topped off my coordinated activewear with a thrifted, bright orange puffer. Designer sunglasses elevate the look with some polish and play of the color of the jacket.  In years past I utilized a lot of dresses and layered outwear for sprinter(seen here , here , and here ). This year, in these unprecedented times, I'm much more casual in my approach to outfitting for the season and also more functional as I'm back to almost daily walks and definitely ...

 These pants are a repeat from this post . I think they are just so perfect for winter! shirt /belt/scarf-Gap(more belts here  similar scarf here ), pants-Uniqlo(similar here ), necklace / ring -Mejuri, bag-J.Jill(similar here ), socks-Target(more options here ), boots- Columbia Sportswear I went with a rugged-chic style for this OOTD, pairing these high-waisted tweedy culottes with a bright red henley, plaid scarf, stripey wool socks, and hiking boots. I'm wearing this scarf almost like a shawl/poncho and using this crossbody bag to create alternative silhouettes. As stated above, these pants are quite versatile. From Tuesday's sporty  post  to a layered look from a dress-over-pants post  a few years back, these navy trousers suit a wide arrange of outfits and are quite warm to boot!
