Outfits Not Just Clothes

 To kick off the fall/spooky season we headed out for a farm day a few weeks back. This was our second year at Simmons Farm and while the girls were busy in the corn bus, we got a few (very few) outfit pics utilizing this amazing landscape as background.  shirt-Gap(similarish here ), tee- Wegman's , shorts-Levi's(similar here ), boots- Columbia Sportswear I've been a fan of buffalo plaid for years. I've had this particular shirt longer than my second child, perhaps even my first. I featured it in this very old post, here . You can't go wrong with any plaid or flannel for fall, especially for an outdoorsy look. Keeping functionality in mind I went with denim shorts and hiking boots. A few weeks ago we went for a grown-ups only trip to our local neighbor museum The Frick Pittsburgh  and I wore what has been a kind of go-to look for outings this past winter/spring. I donned these same toadstool printed overalls for the neighborhood light-up night last December and as well as an  I Made it Market event back in February.  Last week I featured an orange puffer jacket with an activewear matching set here . I find it such a vibrant and bold color to wear for sprinter (spring/winter). Beyond the season, a good orange can elevate basics, while making statement pieces stand out even more. For this outfit I switched up the expectations by styling a novelty print button-down and tailored blazer with hiking joggers and colorblock sneakers. I've always enjoyed the outfitting challenges this time of year brings, as we transition from Winter to Spring, it's almost a season of itself--Sprinter jacket-Geoffrey Beene thrifted(similar here and here from Poshmark ), shirt/ boots -Columbia Sportswear (similar shirt  here ), leggings-Old Navy(more options here ), sunglasses-Ralph Lauren(similar here ) I styled this colorblocked matching "set" with a flannel back in the fall, here . For this OOTD now in the midst of the seasonal shift from winter to spring I topped off my coordinated activewear with a thrifted, bright orange puffer. Designer sunglasses elevate the look with some polish and play of the color of the jacket.  In years past I utilized a lot of dresses and layered outwear for sprinter(seen here , here , and here ).
