Late Summer Olive & Navy Combo

blazer- Olive & Oak via Jupe Boutique , pants- Gap , tee- Old Navy , heels- Shoe Mint , necklace-Gifted, cuff- Martin & Osa I love the chic simplicity going on in this outfit. It's all about the colors and cuts of the separate garments playing off each other. Olive and navy are a more sophisticated take on the blue n' green color combo I've sported in the past , while the angled silhouette of this blazer gives some shape and volume to counter the fitted cropped trousers. I went with dark brown/wood-like accessories to give it an earthy edge. This all sounds very technical and strategic, but really I just wanted to wear this blazer with something crisp and the look evolved from that. Also, I'm loving these pics, right?! It's always a added perk when the background and lighting come together to highlight the outfit.

More Trench Coat Weather

trench- Gap , sweater-Madewell(sort of similar here ), skirt-Banana Republic(similar here ), shirt- Le Tote , bracelets- Jupe Boutique /Mikkat Market(more options here ), heels-Target(sort of similar here ) Another windy day yesterday, similar to this post . I really wish it was warm enough to be able to show off this blouse from Le Tote more fully. You can't tell, but it has such a fun retro feel AND is nicely fitted, but the shape is kind of lost with the sweater. However, a sweater was definitely called for and added some color I really enjoy a dark red/light blue color combo especially during these transitional days as we slowly ebb toward spring.

Jaunty Hat Outfit

shirt-Nasty Gal(sort of similar here ), sweater-Jupe Boutique(cute sweater here ), pants- Gap , necklace/bracelet- Jewel Mint , loafers-DSW(similar here ), hat-Jcrew(cute hat here ) A cute little outfit from last week. I've had these cropped pants from the Gap for years and they still hold up in pictures and for realses. I'm a big fan of the Gap's  premium pant collection . I was just espousing their virtue to one of my styling clients the other day.   I have four pairs, including these, and they have held up well over the years and are great foundational basics. Plus, good quality for the money. I figured there was enough color going on already in this outfit and that a simple black cropped pant would ground the look. And, of course I love a knit cap.

Jodhpurs of the Heart

Some heart graffiti to highlight today's outfit. These necklaces are so delicate, I love how they get tangled up together. Yep it's cold again... blazer-Jupe Boutique(sort of similar here ), blouse-Forever 21(not that similar, but crazy cool here ), jodhpurs-Asos(sort of similar here ), boots-Steve Madden(sort of similar here ), ring/bracelet- Jewel Mint , necklaces-vintage/gifted, sunnies-Ralph Lauren(similar here )  Yes the cold is back and I braced for it yesterday in my woolen jodphurs, which were last seen back in the fall, here .  I went kind of overall drab color-wise with this outfit.  For me the strength in this look comes from the shape and structure of each piece. The jodphurs are fitted, while the blazer has some swing, but also form in the shoulders.  The blouse's print breaks up the brown and olive green. This outfit is an example of how each piece can work on it's own, while also bui...

Winter Floral

I really need to use more hand lotion, I'm starting to get old lady hands, eek! coat-Zara(similar here ), sweater- Jupe , skirt- Jcrew Factory , shirt/necklace-H&M(similar here and here ), tights- Target , booties-Forever21(similar here ), rings- Jewelmint and Cookie Lee     Coming back to work after winter recess feels a lot like the first day of school and I like to wear a new outfit upon my return to the office.  Well, this isn't entirely new, you may recall the combo of this blouse and necklace from the spring here . For winter I added this new sweater from  Jupe Boutique on E. Carson St. and a winter floral.    Florals in winter can be a hard sell, but this skirt works for me because of the bronze edging on the individual flowers in the pattern, it gives it a deeper tone.  It is those kind of subtle details that really make this outfit for me.  Yes, there is a lot going on, but there'...
