Versatile Office Wear

blazer-J.Crew(similar here ), skirt-Banana Republic(similar here ), shirt- Cupcake & Cashmere  via Le Tote , loafers-Sole Society(similar here ), necklace-Urban Outfitters(more necklaces here ), bracelet-Vintage(similarish from Etsy here )  Black n' white office outfits are usually fairly graphic and chic, especially with a white blazer topping off the look. This version has some earthy undertones thanks to this pewter statement necklace, and stone adorned cuff. If you look closely at the detail shot above you'll see some stones are missing from this bracelet, which I think gives it more character. I've had this since the late 90's which is technically vintage now that we're 20-years out (!!! 😲). Another element of this look I'm really enjoying is the crochet overlay of the shirt. You may recall it's first time on the blog from this post . Paired with this pencil skirt it gives the appearance of being a dress, making it...

Eclectic Workwear

blazer- J.Crew , shirt- Cupcakes & Cashmere via Le Tote , joggers / necklace -Le Tote, loafers-Zara(similar here ) This shirt's overlay is so interesting AND even though the necklace is a bit caught up, the two really complement each other, no? Plus, the pattern on these joggers reflects the crocheted effect of the top, finished with the white blazer we have an eclectic springtime work outfit! When combining texture, pattern, and more casually silhouette pieces, having everything in black n' white gives it a crisp and more expensive appearance. Plus, you're less likely to look like a fashion victim wearing too many statement pieces at once.

Blazer Retrospective

Blazers have been a HUGE part of my outfitting style/personal uniform for well over a decade. In my mind a blazer is the perfect third piece , and a no-brainer way to bring some polish to a look. Here's a quick rundown of some of my favorite blazer moments-- A knitwear blazer, like this striped piece from Uniqlo , is the perfect cardigan alternative.  It has the ease of a sweater, but the structure of outerwear for a pulled together, yet comfortable office outfit!  This "sea creature" blazer from Anthropologie has been a major part of my summertime work wardrobe. Novelty/whimsical prints on traditional silhouettes are a "low risk" way of pushing yourself outside of the style box.   A closeup of a tweedy grommet-ed blazer from Saks off Fifth is a statement piece that can really go with anything, even a horse-printed button-down! My good old navy blazer from J.Crew , a versatile classic! From BB Dakota , this olive-green blazer is ...

Another Summer Shorts Suit

blazer- J.Crew , shirt-ModCloth(similar here ), loafers- G.H. Bass , shorts- G.H.Bass Factory Outlet , ring-French Connection(similar here ), necklace-Jewel Mint(similar here from H&M) Last month I rocked this version of a shorts suit. Here, I've gone the nautical route with anchor print shorts, and a light-blue striped shirt, finished off with a crisp white blazer and weejun loafers for a fresh menswear-inspired ensemble. Technically shorts are a no-go at work, but I've made this office appro with the blazer and button-down. And I challenge anyone out there to call this casual/unprofessional. Come at me!
