Simple Summer Separates

Apparently July 4th was the globally hottest day since a day in August of 2016. A hot summer is not the best conditions for outfitting, especially if you're in and out of AC. Putting together office appropriate looks has been challenging here as of late. I'm just not feeling very inspired, so I've turned toward some simple separates.  cardigan/bottoms-Banana Republic(similar here and here ), top- Gap , sunnies--Versace(similar here ), necklaces- Mejuri , flats- Allbirds Is this look setting the world on fire? No, climate change is taking care of that. But it's getting the job done, quite literally. I've worn this look to work at least once a week here as of late. The cardi and bottoms are both from Banana Republic and kind of create a "soft suit". I've had this cardigan for years and these drawstring linen pants were purchased in last summer's coastal-grandma craze. I've turned to mock-turtle tank tops versus standard tanks for the office. Pop of Pink

Spring and the Easter season always bring bright colors, prints, and vibrant whites. For this casual, yet sophisticated look I played with mixing suiting and casual wear, deployed a seasonally appropriate novelty print, and brought it home with a pop-of-color bag.   jacket / trousers - J.Crew , shirt--Amazon(similar here ) necklace / ring -Mejuri, bag-Coach(similar here ), sneakers-H&M(more options here ) Yes, in the closeup shots you can see this shirt is sporting jackalopes! With bunnies dominating the scene here these past weeks, I wanted to subvert that image with a slightly sinister vibe since jackalopes are seen as a "tell tale animal" and "fearsome critter", according to Wikipedia ...  I haven't seen the word "fearsome" in a long time, may have to try incorporating that a bit more into my everyday convo... Anyway, jackalopes asside, the mix of suiting trousers and button-up with sneakers and a denim jacket create an ideal workwear-weekend-we...

Bright Sky & Bold Stripe

On a bright, wind swept day we explored Hazelwood Green and took some outfit pics of this dress and cardi combo!  dress--LuLaRoe(similar options here via ThredUp ), cardigan-Nordstrom Rack(similar options here ), earrings-- Wisteria Sky Boutique via Etsy , necklace- J.Crew Factory Yes, this dress is from the infamous multi-level-marketing company LuLaRoe , which I purchased at a "dress party" held by my friend before all of the scandals and poor product quality emerged. Hey, it's cute, has pockets, and works for work. Belted and paired with this striped cardi and loafers, it's a subtle nod to the emerging color of early spring flowers, while we're still experiencing some grey chilly days.  In other news, you can read more about this location/development project here .

Outfit of Many Parts

This outfit was built around a literal foundation garment--a bodysuit. From there it was a matter of picking pieces that spoke to each other to bring together a look. Unlike, my last post that had a very clear style point of you view, this outfit has a more eclectic aesthetic.  blazer/bodysuit- Gap (similar options here  and here ), skirt- Universal Standard , sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , scarf- Ralph Lauren (similar here ), belt- Amazon , boots- Nordstrom (similar here ) Forgive my hunched appearance, I always remember to stand up straight when it's too late. The seeds of this look, which did come together a bit waywardly, were planted from this  Who What Wear article.  It featured both bodysuits and silk split skirts as "must haves" for spring, but didn't necessarily style them in the same look. Pairing them together on my own, I then reached for this belt, boots, and blazer. The scarf came almost as an afterthought for a bit of coverage. The scoop neckline of this bo...
