Outfits Not Just Clothes

Bean(similar here ) This horrendous summer sent me in search of a linen throw-on-and-go dress, and I discovered a Lithuanian based shop on Etsy and picked up this pocketed, pink shift. When it finally arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that a matching mask was included in the package! Transitioning this "matching set" from summer to fall, I added this chambray shirt and cinched with a braided belt. I unearthed these argyle socks and was so pleased the pinks coordinate and peak out just enough from my standard brown boots.   And now a couple of  closeup shots of my "included-with-purchase" mask. 

So, last week I discovered that all of my "rage" walking completely wore through the soles of my go-to outdoor sneakers! This pair, I've had since 2014 from Old Navy, so for what I paid they lasted quite a long time, accompanying me on many hikes and adventures.  However, to replace them I decided to go with a proper pair of trail sneakers: Bare Access XTR Trail Runners by Merrell from Nordstrom I like that they are neutral, but also have some pops of color. The tread seems quite impressive, perfect for hiking, as well as my walks up and down the grassy hills in the cemetery near my house.  I also picked up this summer-dress: All in Favor Tiered Dress in Jersey also from Nordstrom. After the hot, scorching, muggy, humid, miserable July I desperately  need something simple, in a natural fiber, that has pockets and isn't too schlubby to wear around the house.  This tiered easy frock I think will be just the ticket.  Delivery expected tomorrow!

Of course, you can transition a sundress into fall, and September is the best month for that transition since the days can still be hot and humid. I paired this boho midi with a fitted denim jacket to balance the volume of the skirt, and pop-of-color flats.  There are a two tricks in capturing the essence of the September sundress. First, have a jacket/coverup for the cool mornings that can be easily removed during hot afternoons. Think of pieces like a bomber jacket or a knitwear blazer. And, of course you can't go wrong with a lightweight sweater. Keep the more rigidly tailored pieces like a tweed blazer and chunky pullovers for later in the fall.  Second, be m...
