Falling for Shorts

For most folks, shorts season runs from May to August, but for this outfitter and a good pair of tights I extend short wears well into fall. Here are some past posts featuring autumnal (and in one case winter) shorts! Fall Shorts, Tweed and Leopard, Statement Sweater. 

 I recently acquired a new autumnal short that became a go-to October item.

I love the rich tone of this shirt with the neutral plaid of the shorts. I don't know if both of them being from Boden pairs them together so well, but they nicely compliment each other. And I love how this elbow-patch cardigan can just be thrown over this look for comfy/cozy fall vibes and that it hits right where the shorts end for some proportion play.

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
