Outfits Not Just Clothes

But, I have been semi-obsessed with it for over a year, as it lingered on my Amazon Wish List. When my brother texted asking what he could get me for Xmas I sent this coat his way. Deep down I needed the push of some one else buying it because it's not the most practical outerwear. Of course style doesn't have to be practical, and while I love this coat, it's not meant for the chilly Pittsburgh winter, nor does it gel with my professional wardrobe all that well. This is a coat for mild, non-work days, that I can throw over my tired old "mom" clothes and feel like I'm stepping out with some sort of quirky style. For this blue-toned OOTD it gave some structure and shape to a chambray schmatta. The woven tote, knit legwarmers, and duck boots were all functional add-ons as we went were out and about exploring this weekend at Free Museum Sundays and the neighborhood playground.  

My relationship with Amazon first began as a great resource for cheap used books, then became my  go-to for drugstore items, then Christmas Shopping. Recently, I've been finding myself searchingh for fashion... or at least clothing that suits my needs. The weather is finally starting to break here in Pittsburgh, so OOTDs are coming soon! In the meantime I've started by my Shopping List of Must Haves for 2018. Carrier Bag This crossbody/shoulder bag hybrid from Moop is more than I usually spend on a day bag, but I'm ready to invest and upgrade! The neutral grey and waxed canvas makes this versatile and highly functional, both of which are must-have features for my Must-Haves of 2018, Momma ain't playin!  Waterproof Boot Speaking of functional and versatile, I'm in the market for a black, waterproof boot! This option from Nordstrom has tread and is nondescript is a good way, as in it doesn't look like a snowboot, just a neutral black boot, perfect for the office in winter. I'm very much over wearing a functional pair of shoes to get to work, then changing into a stylish pair for being at work. I want footwear that can serve me all day long. This go round we get to see its dramatic hem and drape in a more aesthetically badass outfit thanks to the boots and cuff. This look feels very 90's to me. Add some tights, switch out the chelsea boots for combat boots, and put in a few multicolored streaks in the hair and you'd have 16-year-old Bernadette to a tee! Which begs the question, can a lady of a certain age get away with the styles of her youth when they come back around?
