Feel Good Outfit

Now that it's officially fall I'm starting to layer with sweaters, sweatshirts, and vests over button-downs, and wearing boots. And there's something about red boots in particular this time of year that gives me all of the good feels.  sweatshirt- Grace & Stella , shirt & jeans--Thrifted from Thriftique (both menswear), boots--Nordstrom(similar here ), sunnies--Versace(more options here ), bracelets-- Nordstrom , ring--Ana Luisa(similar here ), earrings-- Amazon Yes, this sweatshirt is merch from a skincare/makeup company, and it goes great with this plaid men's button-up. I wore this to a recent screening of the documentary Find Hygge  and tried to subtly dress toward the theme, in comfortable garments with details (like these red boots) that made me feel good, comfortable, and happy.  I've outfitted around the concept of Hygge in the past as seen in these posts here and here . And while it may seem that comfy/cozy fair isle is the statement of Hygge, re...

Orange Blazer and Feminism

Sometimes a good outfit can be a simple t-shirt & jeans, with boots and a blazer for a bit of polish. I also layered in a chambray shirt for some denim-on-denim action, which is a styling trick I really like for spring. Of course this t-shirt serves up a message.  "They Didn't Burn Witches They Burned Women" blazer-J.Crew(similar here ), shirt-Gap(similar here ), T-shirt- TeePublic ,  jeans- Universal Standard , bracelets- Nordstrom , ring-Mejuri(similar here ), boots-DSW(similar here ) On the surface there's nothing revolutionary about this look. Again, a fairly simple formula of jeans, tee, blazer, and boots with a layered chambray shirt. However, the bright orange and how it plays on the colors of the T-shirt, and of course the messaging makes these clothes an outfit.  I'm not going to presume that I'm changing the world by wearing a feminist T-shirt, but it's in the small ways and subtle cues is part of making a difference especially for these two...

Move Over Brat Green it's Olive & Sage Season

March is winding down and spring trends are ramping up. From last summer's outrageous Brat Green , which I never even attempted to incorporate into my style, this spring is seeing a resurgence of pastels and deeper tones. Here's my take on a monochromatic look with olive green and sage hues.  jacket--H&M(similar here ), shirt / pants --Uniqlo, sunnies--Versace(more options here ), necklace--Banana Republic(similarish here ), ring / bracelet -Ana Luisa, boots-Vince Camuto(similar here ) from Nordstrom This "matching set" from Uniqlo features the trending barrel pant silhouette, not my usual fit, but you can't argue with it when paired with the cropped adjustable button-down and a pair of statement boots. I may also style this look with combat boots for messier days. This oversized quilted jacket is almost over a decade old, but it's utilitarian vibe keeps it in style. I've worn it with a pop of pink in years past and it would work "playing against...

Happy 2025!

In the words of the comedian Tom Segura "Get Fucking Ready!" It's a new year, and I have no clue what joys, horrors, ups, downs, endeavors, and disasters that await. Yes, it has been awhile since I posted due to life events (recent passing of a loved one) and the frenzy of the holiday break (we had visit from both Santa and the Tooth Fairy).  So here's a look from back in November before the end of 2024 slapped me in the face.  coat-Universal Standard(more options here ), sweater-Anthropologie(similar options here , here , and here ), shorts- Boden , socks- Bombas , boots-Nordstrom(more options here ), earrings- Amazon , mask- Maskc I love this coat! The mix of material gives any look some subtle drama plus it's overall cozy. Of course a red boot always hits, but it pairs unexpectedly well with this striped sweater and plaid shorts.  Shorts outside of summer can be tricky. It's a delicate balance of tights, socks, and temperature. I featured shorts most recent...
