Dressing Up a Plaid Shirt

shirt- Gap , dress-Uniqlo(similar here ), belt-Banana Republic Factory Store(more belts here ), boots-Kelly & Kate via DSW(similar here ), necklace-Gifted(similar here from Bauble Bar)   Yes, I did feature this same plaid shirt in yesterday's post . For this OOTD I've dressed it up by layering it under a swinging shift dress! Boots, a belt and necklace complete this autumnal work-wear outfit.

Loving Lavender

Well now I'm practicing what I preach with my new smokey pastel hair color! I felt it was time for a bit of a change, and when better than spring (and summer) to switch things up on the hair front. 💇  My new do' plays into the chic color combo of navy and mauve in this outfit. The collar tips on the shirt and tone-on-tone dots in the "vest" are subtle, yet striking details to elevate the overall look. Also, this "vest" is actually a top. I've long been a fan of vests as alternative...

Workwear Florals

blazer-J.Crew Factory(similar here ), shirt- Banana Republic Factory Store , pants- Target , loafers-Sole Society(similar here ), watch- Wenger You may recall these floral culottes in this post last week worn with a t-shirt and sandals. Here, I'm all business pairing these statement trousers with a button-down, blazer, and metallic loafers for work! Which version do you prefer? Don't worry I also have a dressy ensemble in mind for these bottoms, just you wait!

Fox Socks for Spring

Closeup of Textures! coat-H&M(similar here ), sweater- Le Tote , shirt- Banana Republic Factory Store , pants-Uniqlo(similar here ), socks-Target(similarish here ), loafers- Etienne Aigner (similar here ) You may recall my fox socks in this post back in November. Here they are again welcoming Spring! It's kind of surprising how many colors and patterns are seasonally appropriate for both latish fall and early spring. The temps are similar, at least here in Pittsburgh, hence layers are de rigueur for both season. And while some may consider plaid a fall/winter pattern, for this outfitter there's a plaid for every season, and a fresh green and navy plaid fits just about any time of year.

Red, White, & Scarf

blazer- J.Crew , sweater- Le Tote , shirt-Banana Republic Factory Store(similar here ), pants-Saks Off 5th(similar here ), boots-DSW(more options here ), scarf- Ralph Lauren Okay, so not much "white" in this outfit, but you get what I'm going for in the post title, eh? Besides a witty title, I'm also going for functional layers and wearing this scarf in place of a necklace to switch things up in my accessory game.   And did't even realize that this sweater's hue is a nice nod to V-day! I love happy little outfitting accidents!

Mountain Meets Moto

jacket-Asos(similar here ), dress-Uniqlo(similar here ), scarf- American Apparel , belt-Banana Republic Factory Store(more options here ), boots- Payless , rings-similar here from H&M I AM LOVING THIS DRESS!!!! Plaid, flannel, pockets, oversized, its hitting all of my style desires for this season. In my full-blown autumn old-timey fantasies this would be my mountain woman dress that I'd wear weaving blankets, singing folk songs while brushing my daughter's hair, and roaming the woods gathering nuts.  The red moto-jacket brings the look out of the backwoods and onto the streets of Pittsburgh, hence the title post.  Fall is such a great time, style wise to mix and match textrues, patterns, and aesthetics. So go ahead and pair flannel with leather, or lace and tweed. Have pastoral style in the same ensemble as athleisure wear, or go for a vintage and androgynous combo. Nothing is off limits!
