Potential DIY Project

It is COLD here in Pittsburgh and while outfits have been happening IRL, the opportunity to capture them in pictures has been very hard to come by with the weather and the darker days. Nonetheless, I'm hoping to get some wonderful winter fashion shots this weekend, Saturday is supposed to be sunny and a whopping 21 degrees! In the meantime I've been eyeing this shirt at J. Crew  J.Crew Which is not all that different from a shirt I have from the Gap similar to this: Gap It's all about the side trim in the J.Crew version above and I'm thinking since I own two blue, button-down Oxfords why not alter one by adding some metallic trim along the side seams like some rick rack from Joann Fabrics.... Joann Fabrics Of course there is the potential this could turn out kind of homemade hokie, maybe actual fabric in a strip with the trim as a finisher is a better call. Something like this,  Joann Fabrics Maybe not this exact type, but ...

DIY Crop Top

One of the major trends for this summer was/are crop tops. And I've read at least a dozen articles about how to pull one off.  For instance,  here  from Lucky Magazine and another one here from Refinery29 . Not really feeling all that excited about this trend I pretty much steered clear, until I decided to give it a go all DIY style.  Okay, I have tank blouse underneath a button-up shirt.  Undoing buttons...  ...rolling up sleeves... ....tying up the front ends..... ....adjust and... Voila! My take on a the crop top.  button-up- Style Mint , tank-Olive & Oak(similar here ) via Le Tote , jeans-Asos(similar here ), loafers-DSW(similar here )  This was a fun casual weekend look. A bit more interesting then just standard jeans and tee.  I don't see the crop top going anywhere soon, so I'm sure this summer trend will find it's way into fall.
