Outfits Not Just Clothes

 cardigan-Piperlime(available here via Poshmark ), top- Lula Roe , pants- Gap , shoes- Dr. Scholls , necklace- chloe + isable , sunnies- Target   I love me a black-and-white ensemble no matter the season. But, during the spring/summer in particular it can look very fresh and chic, don't you agree? I've featured this preppy tennis cardi several times before ( here and here ) and it's a great third/thrown-on piece that really brings an outfit together. The necklace and leopard print flats also amp up the style factor on this striped tunic and maternity pants. It's these type of touches that are seeing me through the last weeks of maternity outfitting as my options are becoming more and more limited. But, even for the non-pregnant, accessories and a crisp third piece are great outfitting go-to's for a simple shirt and trousers combo.   Also, my hair is just kind of "happening" right now. I'm at a growing-it-out...

And here's the new haircut, as promised in this post ! Look closely you can see a couple of bunnies at the bottom right. blazer-Gap(similarish here ), dress- Old Navy , boots-Nine West(similarish here ), ring- French Connection Pairing a whimsical printed (and silhouetted) dress with black tights, boots, and a blazer is very 90's in my book. And it's very on-trend at the moment, but what makes this sweet little frock all the more sweeter is that shares a print with a matching set I bought for Baby Girl: Onesie Leggings Couldn't you just die!!!!! We didn't get a chance to photograph Little Miss wearing her bunny prints, and quite frankly we're not too keen on featuring her face on the blog just yet (if ever). So trust that we looked quite the Mommy & Baby pair in our coordinated looks. But of course, with these boots and black touches I was ever the cool mom! 

For the majority of my 20's this was my hair-- This pic was back in 2008... maybe 2009, a cute "shag" of sorts that grazed by jawline. It wasn't anything revolutionary, but it served me. Then, after turning 30 I decided it was time to shake things up and go short, ala Stella Tennant True, not an exact haircut copy, but the general idea was inspired by Stella.  I rocked this cut for several years. blazer- Ines De La Fressange for Uniqlo (similar here ), turtleneck/necklace- J.Crew (similar necklace here ), jeans / sneakers -Old Navy, watch-Michael Kors(similar here ) Usually when you hear "velvet" and "tweed" you think of more formal, classic wear, but here it's a casual take in luxe material. True, this outfit is extremely similar to this post , which again, just goes to show, how you can take basic outfitting elements and mix things up for different looks. Last week's striped shirt, blazer, & jeans ensemble was bright and fun, this version is a bit more dark and moody, perfect as we head into Halloween.
