Save the Vest for Last

Now that autumn has officially arrived it's time to switch out my warm-weather wardrobe for the chunky knits, longer hems, and layering basics of fall. To celebrate the last days of summer I donned this vested outfit!  jacket- J.Crew , vest-H&M(similar here ), tank- Amazon , pants-Banana Republic(similar here ), loafers-Anne Klein(similar here ), sunnies- Kate Spade , necklaces/rings- Mejuri , mask-MASKC(more options here ) While vests are not exclusive to summer, check out this Vogue piece on Vest Outfits for Fall , wearing a one as a top or sans-sleeves is definitely a warm-weather 'fit. Here I styled this menswear-inspired vest with side-striped cropped trousers, a tank, and white denim jacket!

Staying Brighter Longer

Hello Friends! It's been an extremely long break from posting, but now that we've gained an hour of sunshine I'm feeling rejuvenated and motivated to capture outfit pics to post for those of you still left and interested. The main reason for my blogging hiatus was that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last fall. I had surgery to remove my thyroid and after follow-up all signs point to being cancer-free!!! However, this has left my throat and voice effected. Thankfully I have lots of turtlenecks and collared shirts to coverup my surgery scar for the time being as I continue to heal and recovery.  I hope you all know deep down, that while I wasn't posting I most certainly was still outfitting, case in point....  coat-H&M(similar here ), vest-Asos(more options here and here ), shirt-Wildfang(similar here ), skirt- Mimu Maxi  leggings- Spanx , rings- Mejuri , earrings- Amazon mask/chain- MASKC This outfit is a direct inspiration from this Vogue article. My Downton Abbey Movie Outfit

blazer-J.Crew(similar here ), pants-Gap(similar here ), shirt- H&M , vest-Vintage(similar here from Patrick James ), scarf/sunnies-Ralph Lauren(similar here and here ), boots-Forever 21(similar here ) In celebration of the turn toward cooler weather I decided to play around with some layers and menswear in this in OOTD! There's only one piece of actual menswear--this 70's vintage vest (that is reversible!!!!) I "borrowed" from my Dad 20-odd years ago. The shirt and blazer are classic autumn staples, and when paired with simple cropped pants, rugged boots, and a designer scarf, not only does this look have an androgynous feel, but it's also giving off some major English Country Side--it's not too late to catch that Downton Abbey movie, eh?

No Snooze Button on Style

vest-thrifted(similar here from Mango ), shirtdress / jeans -Gap, loafers-Liz Claiborne(similar here ) This button-down is actually a sleep shirt, and I purposefully got it in a large for an oversized slouchey feel. Wearing a baggy nightgown may not sound like the most dynamic or chic outfitting strategy, however I swear I'm not falling asleep at the style wheel, but instead playing with the proportions created by this collared vest, which one could argue is more of a sleeveless blazer, and skinny rolled white jeans. Overall, this feels quite modern, no? I also love the transitional feel of this OOTD as we begin to see signs of Autumn on the horizon. I think a crisp white jean and a tailored third piece is an easy way to wear warm-weather shirts, lounge pieces, and even dresses into fall. What say you?
