Staying Brighter Longer

Hello Friends! It's been an extremely long break from posting, but now that we've gained an hour of sunshine I'm feeling rejuvenated and motivated to capture outfit pics to post for those of you still left and interested. The main reason for my blogging hiatus was that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last fall. I had surgery to remove my thyroid and after follow-up all signs point to being cancer-free!!! However, this has left my throat and voice effected. Thankfully I have lots of turtlenecks and collared shirts to coverup my surgery scar for the time being as I continue to heal and recovery.  I hope you all know deep down, that while I wasn't posting I most certainly was still outfitting, case in point....  coat-H&M(similar here ), vest-Asos(more options here and here ), shirt-Wildfang(similar here ), skirt- Mimu Maxi  leggings- Spanx , rings- Mejuri , earrings- Amazon mask/chain- MASKC This outfit is a direct inspiration from this Vogue article. A Rent the Runway Coat Vote!

Mr. Keller and I are going to see The Head and The Heart  as our Valentine's Day gift to each other, and since it's been awhile I figured I'd utilize a little Rent the Runway to wear something special. But, unlike past rentals I have my eye on some statement outerwear pieces.... So, it's time for a new Rent the Runway Vote , coat edition! Please, leave your pick in the comments below. #1  Calypso St. Barth This cape has a fun Russian Folktale feel to it with the embroidery and fringe. Definitely outside my usual style aesthetic, but that's the fun with rentals you can try something out of the box without having to commit. #2  Elliatt I think a pale blazer in winter is super chic. This open-front number has an interesting "swoop" detail and could be paired with a variety of pieces in my closet.  #3  Hunter Bell Doesn't this "cocoon" coat look cozy? Love the pattern and the color, so vibrant and would really make a stat...

Let's Talk About Coats

There was 17'' of snow this past weekend in Minnesota, but you know that's Minnesota so goes it. But, that weather report got me thinking that winter is coming (hehehe) and last year was a dozy of bitch-cold and I need to rethink my coat game for the coming cold season.  Part of me wants to keep things fashion fabulous, but then I recall the aching joints of bracing against icy wind and I just want to wrap up in a big comfy warm as fuck puffer. So here are a few pieces I'm thinking of adding to my winter wardrobe Zara This coat is chic and minimal and looks comfortable, but part of me also thinks it's a bit drab. J. Crew This is bright and cheerful, which is always a plus in the dead of winter, but I feel like the collar would bug, and I'm not crazy about pocket placement, appears to be potentially awkward.  Asos Now this seems like it'll be warm and it has interesting texture to keep it from being boring.  Columbia ...

Thoughts on Coats

This time of year I always start having a hankering for a new coat, but alas with my year of no shopping I will have to make do with the SEVEN coats I already own. Yep, seven. I think I'll survive, but I still like to look... Zara Asos Jcrew Mikkat Market Need Supply The awesome thing about a good coat is that it can take simple basics and amp them up into an outfit.  via They All Hate Us Here you have ripped jeans, a faded chambray shirt, but the coat is such a wow factor it looks chic. The bracelet and bag are helping as well.  The key to a good coat is fit (which is really the key to everything outfitting). Oversize styles are coming back around, but I prefer to try to keep things sleek without being bulky. Snow is in the forecast for tonight so stay warm out there!

Coats & Jackets

Zara(similar here ) H&M (similar here ) Gap (similar here )   Jcrew (similar here ) Mikkat Market (similar here ) So yesterday was shoe highlights here . Today, a few of my favorite coats and jackets. The weather has definitely turned so I'm starting to think about effective layers.  The trick with this time of year is to not reach for the winter coat.  It'll have a heavy enough rotation once January, February, and March hit. Try to utilize jackets, blazer, sweaters, and of course trenches.  By doing so you won't get tired of your heavy coat midway through winter.  Man, it is chilly out today, bundle up!
