Badass Bump

jacket-Guess(similar here ), T-shirt- ModCloth , jeans- Old Navy Maternity , sneakers-gifted(similar here via DSW ), sunnies- Target It's been a while since I busted out my leather moto jacket, last seen here . This past weekend I needed a bit of badass-ery in my outfitting, because I needed to feel a bit of my old self back. It's been a semi-rough 3rd trimester so far. Feeling physical worn-out and emotionally out-of-sorts much more so than in my first pregnancy, I turned to this jacket and easy T-shirt to put myself together a bit and feel more on top of things. Which just speaks to the power of clothes and fashion, yes this is a pretty simple OOTD, but the color, the fit, the fabric all came together for not only sartorial, but emotional polish.

Purple Pants

I love the drama of this necklace, and after getting all fancy with it here , I decided to try it with a casual look. Plus, the pattern of this top plays well with the dangling bits.  jacket-Thrifted Guess(similar here ), top- Le Tote , jeans-Gap(similiarish here ), sneakers-Old Navy(similar here ), necklace-Gifted(similar here ) These dark purple jeans are much like the pair form this post , in that I bought them on sale at the end of one season, and by the time they were "in season" they were way big, so in storage they went! Now as my body continues to be "in transition" I'm so glad I kept some of my never-worn bottoms from my bigger days.  I paired this dark denim with a top from Le Tote and my thrifted leather jacket for a semi-moody look. There's a fine line when it comes to dressing with an edge. It's not about wearing all black, but having a sharp approach to darker tones, or at least that's how I approach ...

All Black, Mostly

jacket-Guess(similar here ), tee-Uniqlo(similarish here ), jeans-J.Crew(similar here ), bag-ModCloth(similar here ), boots- Gap , necklace- Jewel Mint , cuff-Vintage Recently came across a listicle of " 19 Things Girls Who Wear All Back Know " and realized I've been wearing ALOT of black lately and am loving it! When in doubt wear black! Here, I'm not all in black, but a white tee (whether a plan old V-Neck, or printed) with black jeans and a leather jacket is always a win. I kept the boots black, and went with a "pop-of-color" bag for a rock-n-roll outfit with a vibrant touch.

Sporty Badass

jacket-Guess thrifted(similarish here ), tee- Etsy , skirt-Zara(similar here ), sneakers-Old Navy(similar here ), cuff-Vintage, watch-Michael Kors(similar here ) For this outfit I went the road less traveled pairing a leather jacket and statement t-shirt with this sleek, mesh skirt (as opposed to ripped up jeans) and animal-print slip-ons (instead of boots). A fun outfitting trick is to take a theme, i.e. punk and then give it twist--change up the standard elements with unexpected pieces. This not only saves a look from cliche, but it's also a chance to incorporate other style elements to create an interesting mashup, hence my sporty/badass ensemble above!  What are some of you favorite style mashups? Let me know in the comments below.

Statement Scarf

jacket- Thrifted Guess(similarish here ), sweatshirt-Gap(simiilar here ), cargoes-J.Crew Factory(similar here ), sneakers-Old Navy(similar here ), scarf-Gifted, sunnies- ViVI , watch- Michael Kors I'm a huge fan of statement necklaces as evidenced by these posts-- here , here , here , and here . Switching it up in this look with a scarf in lieu of the standard necklace. The scarf is also bringing a bit of chic to a casual cargoes-and-sweatshirt look. The jacket, last seen here , and the fun sneakers add a sporty-chic vibe to play off the scarf.  You may recall the "Rule of Three" post, here where I breakdown how a third item turns clothes into an outfit. Well here, it's more a Rule of Four with the jacket and scarf being the 3rd and 4th pieces. So much math for a simple look....
