Old Trends New Tricks

I've been seeing oversized blazers, wide-leg trousers, sneakers all over the place for a minute now. And when I say "all over" I mean online, obviously. And I find myself embracing these trends because I have so many pieces that fit with this mishmash of business formal, casual, and sporty style blazer/trousers-J.Crew(more options here and here ), tee-Cotton Factory(find something similar from Commonwealth Press ), earrings-Jewel Mint(similar here via Poshmark ), rings- Mejuri , sneakers-H&M(similar here ) The three main pieces of this OOTD are almost vintage, having been purchased over a decade ago in the aughts when I was first starting work in an office and decided I needed to dress formally in trousers and blazers everyday. The whole "dress for the job you want, not the job you have" idea being popular at the time.  Now, the job I have is working from home, so no on cares what you wear!  But, this outfit showcases how trends are cyclical. More Leather for Spring

My leather love for spring is still going strong and has move from jackets to pants!  blouse-J.Crew(more options here ), vest-Thrifted(similarish here ), pants-Zara(similar here ), necklace- Benevolence LA , bracelet/ring-Jewel Mint(more options here and here via Poshmark ), sneakers- Vans (Faux) Leather is not only represented in these trousers, but these slip-ons are also rendered in leather.  As I wrote about in this post , leather really can be a springtime fabric especially when paired with spring style stapes like floral prints and pastels. I picked up this button-up a year ago right before we went on lock-down, and blogged it in a working-from-home post here .  I'm also keeping the sweater-vest vibe going from this post .  I think we can all agree that this spring is such a relief and that with more and more folks getting vaccinated th...

That Apres Feel

A knitted hat is not only an essential for winter, but can also add a bit  more texture and pattern to your OOTD.  cardigan-Saks Off 5th(similar here and here ), blouse- Gap , jeans- Levi's , necklace-Jewel Mint(available here via Poshmark ), ring- Skelton Jewelry , boots-Sorel(similar here ), hat-Old Navy(similar here ) You may recall this blouse from my first "What I Could Have Worn" hallway mirror selfie post . It's now seeing the actual light of day with some of my all-time winter favorites--knit hat, chunky cardigan, and heavy-duty winter boots. These cold-weather basics are getting a bit of a style lift from the blouse and necklace. I leaned into the black and white color palette and went with black, as opposed to my standard skinny jeans. But actually, black denim is also a winter-time staple. And while I'm not a skier myself, I do enjoy classic Alpine style , and the prints of this sweater and hat speak to that après feel. I mean we are shooting on the ...
