Outfits Not Just Clothes

I wore this on Saturday for a panel discussion of writers on publishing, so I definitely wanted to look professional, yet creative. I'm doing some sneaky layering here with long-john leggings under these leather-effect pants, and it may seem like I have a plaid shirt under a grey sweater, but in fact it's just one piece. (You may recall this post on layered one pieces here .) But, even though the top is a single garment (grey in the front, plaid in the back and collar) I still have a long-sleeved tee underneath because it was mighty frigid on Saturday, even in the sun.  The rest of this month and into February will be challenging, as it ...

This Saturday!!!!!!! Yep, that's right I'm reading at East End Book Exchange as part of the Versify series. I'll be reading mostly from my chapbook, which will be available for purchase, and a few new poems. Of course you really should make it out to see my awesome outfit!  lace top- Banana Republic , shirt-J.Crew Factory(similar here ), leggings-Forever 21(similar here ), boots-Shoe Mint(similar here ), necklace- chloe + isabel c/o Angela B I'm going to play off the cliche of poetess in all black, but with some fun touches like polka dots and mixing textures. There's some lace, leather, and studs in this look and I think it's a perfect mix of feminine charm and rocker edge.   I understand though if you can't make the reading, you can still pick up a copy of my chapbook from Flutter Press here !

And no it's does not relate to my Year of No Shopping , or to any personal uterus business (as a 30-ish woman married for 11 years anytime I hint at a surprise a majority of my female relatives get this crazed smile as if they have been snorting baby powder).
