Spring Scarf

scarf / jacket - Le Tote , shirt-Gap(similar here ), pants-Uniqlo(more options here ), loafers- G. H. Bass , watch-Michael Kors(similar here ) Like sweaters(as discussed in this post ), scarves are usually associated with autumn however, the transitional season of spring provides ample opportunities to outfit with a scarf! This dotted, diamond-print wrap pairs perfectly with my bird-print trousers (also a spring staple), together they provide an eclectic counterpoint to the standard office shirt and neutral, knitwear bomber jacket. Like cardigans, a springtime scarf allows you to play with layers and can be quite functional on chilly April/May mornings.  An additional note on functionality, the "sweatshirt" fabric of this bomber is great for baby drool!

Florals, for Spring? Groundbreaking...

bomber-Piperlime(similar over at Poshmark here ), fleece- Old Navy , tee-ModCloth(similar here ), leggings- Zara , sneakers- QVC Last week I posted my "mom uniform" here , this week it's gotten a springtime refresh with this floral bomber. Statement outerwear is the name of the game when it comes to pulling clothes together in an outfit during the spring season. And while flowers for spring is not the most original style statement, having a dark background to the this floral print, with sporty features, like the stripes  on the collar, cuffs, and hem give it a bit more edge. The arrow screen print on the T-shirt keeps the edge going, while the tweedy sneakers bring a pop of color into this mostly black look. Oh, and yes, I actually have on two jackets, a fleece warm-up under the bomber for a extra warmth.  And, in homage to the post title a bit of Miranda Priestly shade for you!

Hello Spring in Gingham & Floral

bomber-similar from Violeta here ), shirt-Mango(more gingham options here ), pants-Gap Maternity, boots- Sam Edelman via Nordstrom , necklace-similar options here from Nordstrom For this first day of spring my OOTD is all about the mix of gingham with floral. In my mind, prints like checks, stripes, polka dots, and gingham are really neutrals, especially when rendered in basic shades like black and white, hence they can be easily paired with more busy/elaborate prints, like these darkly-hued tropical blooms. Of course, here in Pittsburgh it may be officially spring, but we're actually in the transitional season of " sprinter " where it's spring, but still feels wintery. So why, the patterns in this outfit speak to the spring, the covered up layers and waterproof boots make it very functional for the forecast. And yes, I did wear my Columbia Sportswear Coat OVER this ensemble because, it's chilly out!

A Case for Dresses & Socks

jacket-H&M(similar here ), dress-ModCloth(similar here ), necklace-Forever 21(more options here ), loafers- G. H. Bass The reaction to my boho post from last week was so insanely good, I decided I may need to wear more dresses now that spring is knocking at the door. So here we are, a very girly, feminine dress paired with a menswear-inspired bomber jacket, because my style sweet spot is in the contrasts. And socks! Socks are so important this time of year. Yes, there's the temptation to go completely bare-legged with warmer weather, but it's still winter and having warm/dry feet in winter is one of the best ways to stave off a cold.

Pink Lady Xmas

jacket- Le Tote , dress/necklace-Anthropologie(similarish here  and here ), boots-Zara(similar here ), gloves-Neiman Marcus(similar here ), cuff-Vintage I bought this dress last spring on super-sale and have been keeping it "on hold" to wear this holiday season. The pink-and-grey plaid is festive without being obnoxious, and this floral bomber from Le Tote was the perfect topper! There's definitely a Pink Lady vibe going on here, which is a fun contrast to the feminine/preppy plaid. I pushed this look toward the harder edges with the cuff and studded gloves. But, the big takeaway from this ensemble is that there are no limits to creativity for holiday dressing. Sure, you can go the red n' green route, but if you want to really push your style aesthetic then try for the unexpected, yet keep things fun and festive! Need inspiration?
