Outfits Not Just Clothes

 I love a good thrift store, who doesn't, and last month I treated myself to a trip to Thriftique with a goal of checking out men's button-downs and jeans and to try on whatever else caught my eye. Here's how I started: Leather Jacket-- Nordstrom , Tunic- WildFang , Leggings- Zara , Sneakers- Vans Men's button-down and jeans. I was looking for men's jeans for a more authentic kind of boyfriend look.  short-sleeve men's button-down with the same jeans A third men's button-down and these women's tie dye shorts. I think the look on my face says that I was enjoying this combo.  Anthropologie Dress, yes it had pockets, but wasn't really feeling it very much at all.  I saw a similar dress out in the wild after my trip, and while I enjoy the color and pattern (it didn't have pockets) I wasn't feeling this as my summer vibe. October is quite a stylish month if I do say so myself. Not only do we finally get the fall chill (at least here in the Mid-Atlantic region) that allows for layers, textures, prints, etc. It's also tinged (or fully dunked depending on your Spooky Season sensibilities) with macabre vibes that make for intriguing outfits. Here I've leaned into a witchy color palette of purples and blacks.  blazer-DVF(available here and here via Poshmark ), shirt- Wildfang , pants-Everyone & Everybody(other options here via ThredUp ), sunnies-Versace(more options here and here ), bag-Zac Posen, shoes-Nordstrom (more options here ) While the color combos feel witchy (usually associated with a feminine aesthetic) the pieces themselves (blazer, button-down, trousers, and oxfords) are more masculine, or to get off the binary, androgynous in tone to create an interesting contrast.

The days have been hot and hazy here in Pittsburgh. We are currently experiencing a mild break, but there were many weeks in a row of hitting 90 degrees. High summer indeed! With this type of weather, comfort and function are key. Both the skirt and tee are from brands that deliver quality in the fabric department. Material is becoming more and more important for me, as I get older.  Especially with these high-heat summers synthetic fabrics just don't cut it. Give me linen and cotton that are easily washable and don't wear out or lose shape after a couple of laundry cycles.  And yes, I'm craving fall very hard and starting to plan my looks for when the leaves ...

 Hello Friends! It's been an extremely long break from posting, but now that we've gained an hour of sunshine I'm feeling rejuvenated and motivated to capture outfit pics to post for those of you still left and interested. The main reason for my blogging hiatus was that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last fall. I had surgery to remove my thyroid and after follow-up all signs point to being cancer-free!!! However, this has left my throat and voice effected.
