Outfits Not Just Clothes

It's been a while since I posted as I had an unexpected arrival, well not totally unexpected... as you can see in these shots I'm sporting a (almost) full-term bump. And the following day that bump came out as a baby!!! Yes, my little bundle of joy came early and i have been swept up in all of the new baby ups and downs with little-to-no-time to outfit. So here is my last bump post, and the last post for awhile. This Anne Klein dress has really seen me through this last trimester, you may recall it from these OOTD posts, here and here .  And, I'll most likely sporting it this fall on my return to work, until then have a great summer!

For this OOTD I was all about business in a bright blazer and menswear-esque loafers. Overall, this dress has been serving me beyond awesomely (is awesomely a word? It is NOW!). The print is fun and graphic, the silhouette with its adjustable drawstring is super-flattering, and of course the pockets. Plus, I receive a ton of compliments when wearing it. Not compliments on the dress itself, but compliments about how great I look, and how well I'm "wearing" my pregnancy. I think that's the sign of a good garment, when it works so well people notice how great you look, not necessarily a particular piece.

I ordered a size up to accommodate my bump, but will be able to wear it after baby since it has an adjustable drawstring, plus pockets! This dress is another example of how non-maternity wear that can work during pregnancy. The loose silhouette that's adjustable serves the third trimester body, a body in transition, and eventually the return to the pre-pregnant body(fingers crossed), much like the min-dress as tunic from this OOTD post .    Now that all sounds very functional, which it is, but the bold graphic floral, paired with this striped wrap cardi shows that by no means am I giving up on style for the sake of function. We are approximately 4 weeks out from Easter and I've started thinking about my traditional Easter Dress options.  You may recall some of my past Easter-time looks here and here . I tend to go for simple, yet striking patterns in unexpected colors. This year, being full-on pregs I'm all for functional options, that aren't necessarily maternity-wear. I'm not 100% sure on what direction I want to take, so I'm putting up these picks for a a vote!  A. I recently ordered this shirtdress from ModCloth : Broadcast Coordinator Shirtdress thinking it would be a perfect work dress for this coming fall and winter. It's professional without being stuffy, has some texture with the clip dotted material, provides the kind of coverage I prefer, AND pockets! Alas, when it arrive the bust was WAY too tight, I could get it buttoned, but it was bordering on absence. Yes, I could have gone up a size, but maybe it's my vanity, or the fact that from my perspective my body is still in transition from having my baby... but I just didn't want to go up.
