Cowboy Boots & Floral Skirts

Western wear has seen a resurgence here with the Cowboy Carter of it all, among other influences. I'm not one for cowgirl cosplay, but I do enjoy a good boot. Here I've styled by western boots with a mixed print autumnal outfit.  Blazer-- Luciano Barbera via Threadflip(now defunct), henley-Gap(similar here ), shirt-Uniqlo(similar here ), skirt- Amazon , boots-Coconuts via DSW(similar here ), necklace/bracelet- Slide Jewelry , ring/necklace-Ana Luisa(similar here and here ) I last featured these boots in a spring/summer look here . And I styled them with this same skirt back in April here . While this top is part of a "matching set" featured here  I'm doing the classic styling hack of "breaking it up" and the olive green coordinates with the skirt. You can watch my reel of the cinching drawstring features of this shirt here .  Again I'm wearing the promotional Slide Jewelry set. Here's a referral link to also become an ambassador for discounts ...

Library Skirt

A "patchwork" if you will, of library scenes make up the print of this skirt!  blazer- Threadflip , tee-Gap(similar here ), skirt-J.Crew(more skirts here ), boots- Kelly & Katie via DSW (similar here ), nekclace-Martin & Osa, watch- Wegner This skirt, is WAY old, bought back in '07/'08, like here and here this is a piece that was too big pre-baby, but is finding it's way into my wardrobe as my body continues to be in transition. Not wanting to be too preppy I went with a plain old grey tee, but kept the scholarly theme of the skirt going in this blazer. And speaking of transitions, these boots are a great way to leave off the tights of winter, but not blind passersby with my glaringly pale legs. Spring is here, but that doesn't mean my gams are warm-weather ready just yet.

I'm So Cute!

blazer- J.Crew via Threadflip (similar here ), shirt-Gap(similar here ), pants-Unqlio(similar here ), loafers-Zara(similar here ), necklaces- Jewel Mint , ring-Francesca's(more rings here ), bag- ModCloth Okay this may sound conceited, but when I got this outfit around, on, and had a gander at myself in the mirror before heading out the door I literally said, "I'm so cute!" I love how this blazer frames my bump and of course I'm a sucker for mixing stripes with plaid. That being said I think this is the last outing for these pants. Yes, they are free-waisted, but even low-slung they are starting to be a bit too tight. I think it may be time for some full-frontal panel action(more on that in a future post). And speaking of fit, the days of buttoning blazers are officially on hiatus... Yup, this baby isn't closing anytime soon.

A Suit Alternative

blazer- J.Crew  via Threadflip (similar here ), shirt/necklace- Le Tote \, pants-J.Crew Factory(similar here ), wedges-DSW(similar here ), bag- G.H. Bass , watch- Nixon via Urban Outfitters A few months ago I featured a suit alternative in this post and discussed the changing silhouette of traditional office wear. Here, is another alternative take to the suit with neutral cropped trousers and a blazer in a statement color. Orange and navy is a great color combo, but what really makes this outfit pop is the print of the top incorporating those colors. It can be tricky to match colors up with patterns, there's the fear of coming off to matchy-matchy, but when you have a neutral base, like navy, it feels more grounded. I paired the necklace that came in the same package as this top from Le Tote and went with more neutrals in the shoes and bag.  Overall, I'm just loving this orange, amiright?  Also, don't forget to use the code BERNADETTE...
