Jumpsuit into Spring

Spring is here and with it so many different outfitting challenges. Pittsburgh spring is manic. One day it's sunny with a  high of 70, that evening tornado watches and lighting storms, the morning after cloudy and chilly. And of course, winds all around. But with a killer jumpsuit I'm ready to face whatever the forecast brings.  jumpsuit- Verity & Daughters , sunnies-Versace(similar here ), necklace-Banana Republic(similar here ), ring / bracelet --Ana Luisa, bag- Everlane , boots-Vince Camuto from Nordstrom(similar here and here )  God, do I love a jumpsuit, or in this case coveralls/overalls. I've featured various jumpsuit looks over the years as seen here , here , and here . I love the pockets and adjustable nature of this jumpsuit from the independent brand Verity & Daughters  and am very much digging the colorblock/patchwork aesthetic which in it's way speaks to the changeable weather of this season.  The buttons pair up beautifully with these west...

Walking The Children in Nature

This past Mother's day I treated myself with a weekend rental of this orange pleated dress that I styled several different ways. Here's a more casual/sporty take for a Sunday morning nature moment, you may catch a glimpse of a little sprite in the background.  dress-- TOME Collective via Rent the Runway , top- Vetior via Amazon, leggings- Innersy via Amazon, sunnies- Ralph Lauren , tote-- Pavement , sneakers-Zara (similar here ) I rented this dress because of the high-neck (to hide my thyroid surgery scar) and the color. The silhouette is not my usual cup of tea, but I loved the pleating and its twirliness. I layered over it a cropped wrap top (which is giving me ballet-core energy) and underneath leggings for coverage. The dress is a bit transparent and sleeveless, which can be challenging to wear casually. I kept the sporty vibe of the leggings going with these colorblock sneakers and carried a rainbow tote.  I love outfitting against a garment's "type". This...

She's Outdoorsy!

Over the holidays we stayed close to home, but were able to get outside a bit. Spent most days wearing a version of this outfit. Over the past year I've gone more casual in my looks, but am always looking to elevate your basic sweatshirt and leggings. So it's a forest-printed pullover and colorblock leggings!  sweatshirt- Signals , leggings-Old Navy(all the leggings here ), scarf-American Apparel(similar here ), bag-- Herschel via FabFitFun , sneakers-Asics(similar here ), ring- Skelton Jewelry It was a very grey overcast (yet oddly warm) December day when we took these pictures.  I felt silly wearing sunglasses, so it's a rare bare face post. Well not bare, I'm wearing some Glossier , I'm not insane. As mentioned above, causal/active wear doesn't have to be shclumpy or boring, finding and pairing standard pieces rendered in prints and fun colors takes the boring out of basics.
