Outfits Not Just Clothes

Western wear has seen a resurgence here with the Cowboy Carter of it all, among other influences. I'm not one for cowgirl cosplay, but I do enjoy a good boot.  Of course there are no parties and the dumpster fire that was 2020 is still raging here in 2021, but at least we have hallway mirror selfies... Another outfit that I COULD have worn for a killer night on the town! It can be hard to pull off such disparate aesthetics in one look, and there are so few occasions (even in the before times) where this outfit would have been appropriate, I'm obvie not wearing this to the office or playdates. But for going out, whether real or fantasized, the similar color palette amongst all of the pieces, the way the prints mirror each other, and general attitude of the look make for a reasonably eclectic...

In this post I belted a denim shirt over it and paired with booties. For the #OOTD above I've upped my layering game with a turtleneck, blazer, and knee-high boots. November is the beginning of turtleneck time. This versatile piece can be layered under dresses, jumpsuits, button-downs, and anything V-neck.  I've played up the hue of the shift dress with this  recently purchased burgundy turtleneck as opposed to the standard black or grey. I think now is a great time of the year to experiment with turtlenecks in a variety of colors and patterns.  They can be worn solo, or in a layered look as I've done here. For a more casual look, I'd swap the dress out for a pair of skinny jeans, or corduroys.

Bean This look is basically the only outfit I've worn in the past five days! The freezing temps, snow, and my ridiculous schedule have taken it's toll on my outfitting.  I've been sticking with casual pants like cargos and cords and long-sleeved shirts and sweaters. Nothing to brag about just trying to stay warm and get through the day.  Actually, I've started to shift my thinking about "getting through the day" here lately.  Instead of "getting through" I'm trying to "live through" the day, which I don't know yet how to clearly define, but I know there's a difference for the better.   I hope to be back to regular outfits and outfit posts next week while living through it all! :)
