Outfits Not Just Clothes

This time I waited a tad longer because it's winter and I've been outfitting with looser silhouettes which don't lend themselves to showcasing the bump. My 1st time around, when it was Spring/Summer I wore more fitted pieces, hence the bump was more obvious.  But enough about my uterus business let's turn our attention to this maternity OOTD! vest/leggings-Zara(similar here and here ), shirt-Asos(similar here ), boots-Nine West(similar here ), cuff-Vintage(similar here from Poshmark ) I love experimenting with unexpected ways to outfit for the holiday season, as seen in this post from Monday . And this androgynous take on a tuxedo fits that mandate to a T! The white, pleated bib of this shirt is doing the heavy lifting to bring out the tux vibe of this vest and black leggings combo. The black, grey, and pink palette is a fresh take on plaid for autumn, and is actually a subtle move toward transitioning from fall-to-holiday dressing. I'll definitely be wearing this piece as we head into December festivities! 

No, this post is not about fruit, but the online retailer Mango  which I've been browsing for almost a year. Last week I finally took the shopping plunge and scored some pieces from their current sale ! Trousers These jacquard suit trousers are going to be great this fall/winter. When shopping sales you have to think beyond the current season. The best deals are for off-season pieces. So while, this textured pair of pants would be disgusting during these hot and humid days, come holiday time they'll be chic and seasonally on the mark!  Gilet This men's style knit wear is the perfect " third piece " for the rule of three outfitting strategy . And, unlike the pants above it can be worn regardless of the season. Well, most of the time... a long, sweater-vest for the height of summer is probably not a good idea.  BUT, for adding some structure and polish to a basic dress, or pants-and-shirt ensemble it's perfect for 10 out of 12 months! I recently purchased a faux-fur gilet from Forever 21 for a themed party costume. My purchase is similar to this piece: Forever 21 Now I'm wondering can I actually wear this garment in a non-costume? When I think of fur, or shaggy gilets/vests a sixties boho look comes to mind:   Zara And/or something more romantically rustic like this: Anthropologie And this type of styling just doesn't align with my brand of edgy androgyny, that I'd like to think I rock pretty damn well.  So I COULD resign this piece to the costume box, but I'm not one to back down from an outfitting challenge....  My plan of attack is to go sleek and chic a la these ladies: image via What She Wears With such a statement garment, the best approach is to keep the rest of the look simple and monochromatic, especially when venturing into unfamiliar outfitting waters.
