Outfits Not Just Clothes

Summer is here and it's full steam ahead with trips, cookouts, camps, fireworks, and outfits! I wore this floral jumpsuit for both a casual weekend outing and a day working in-office to bring a bit of flowerful flair to the standard 9-to-5 of it all. jumpsuit-Boden(more options here ), sunnies- Diff Eyewear , necklace-J.Crew(similar here via Poshmark ), bag-ModCloth(similar here ), flats- All Birds I realize I also jumpsuited into spring in this recent post . What's not recent are all of these pieces. The "newest" item of this outfit are the flats, which were a pandemic 2020 purchase and worn in this post . The necklace I found proof of from a 2014 post (!!!) during the big statement necklace craze of the 20 teens era. The bag I had in the days when I freelanced with ModCloth before my kids were born, so yeah lots of classic pieces. The jumpsuit I've had in my closet for a few years and just recently started wearing it out and about.  So, yeah, jump into summer ...

This is the third post in a row we shot at this park near our house. This grove of trees and the light was giving all of the warm and fuzzy fall feels.  This outfit started with an outfit formula of statement blouse, wide-leg pants, & sneakers. I treated myself to this blouse for my birthday in September and I think it may make for a great evening out top, or would that be too on the nose? October is quite a stylish month if I do say so myself. Not only do we finally get the fall chill (at least here in the Mid-Atlantic region) that allows for layers, textures, prints, etc. It's also tinged (or fully dunked depending on your Spooky Season sensibilities) with macabre vibes that make for intriguing outfits. Here I've leaned into a witchy color palette of purples and blacks.  blazer-DVF(available here and here via Poshmark ), shirt- Wildfang , pants-Everyone & Everybody(other options here via ThredUp ), sunnies-Versace(more options here and here ), bag-Zac Posen, shoes-Nordstrom (more options here ) While the color combos feel witchy (usually associated with a feminine aesthetic) the pieces themselves (blazer, button-down, trousers, and oxfords) are more masculine, or to get off the binary, androgynous in tone to create an interesting contrast.
