READING!!

No outfit posts this week, but I wanted to share my upcoming reading this Saturday!!!! I'll be joined by very good friends and fellow poets, Tess Barry & Michelle Stoner. Reading starts at 7 at the White Whale Bookstore .  And here's a link to the dress I may wear from my latest Le Tote package.

Cardigan like A Crocus

cardi- Le Tote , T-shirt- Wild Card (more tees here ), pants-Loft(similar here ), loafers-Zara(similar here ), bracelet-Gifted(similar here ) Last week I slowly starting introducing some florals to my early spring outfitting, then bam(!) temparature drops and I'm back in black n' whites because winter weather is still holding strong. Of course, the white background to this striped cardigan does bring a sense of freshness, just like the tender white crocus peaking through the dirt. Can you even handle the poetry of it all!!!! 💮🖎😆 Adding to the poetic flair is the graphic tee and polka dot pants for a chic androgynous ensemble, perfect for just another day at the office.

Gift Guide Part 3--Literature

So far I've covered beauty products and socks in this year's round of gift guides, which are prefect gift categories for the coming winter. To add to that list--reading! Here are a few books from my Books Worth Reading Pinterest board, first up--poetry! James Allen Hall's "I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well" from the CSU Poetry Center I LOVED Hall's 1st book   Now You're the Enemy , which won awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Lambda Literary Foundation, and the Fellowship of Southern Writers. So this is on my personal wish list to read here during the snowy days to come.  Anthology from Mason Jar Press "The Black Ladies Brunch Collective’s Poetry Anthology,  Not Without Our Laughter ,  is a collection of humorous and joyful poems, riffing on Langston Hughes’s novel  Not Without Laughter . It explores topics of family, work, love and sexuality. The women of BLBC believe, like Hughes, that even in these ...

Long Drapey Layers

coatigan- Le Tote , dress-Anthropologie(similar here ), skirt leggings- Mimu Maxi , sandals-Zara(similar here ), necklace- Le Tote Yesterday's post was all bright n' bold florals. Here, is a darker take on spring style. This faux-wrap tunic/dress makes a great layering piece, and creates some interesting angles when matched with my trusty skirt leggings and checkered coatigan. Also, this "necklace" is actually a bracelet, which you can see when you click on the link above. And lastly, if you're in the Pittsburgh area this evening and in need of some poetry, I'm reading at Carlow University as part of the Red Dog Reading Series!

Backpacks, Boy Shorts, Baby Dress, & Poetry

As this week is winding down and I don't have any outfit pics in the hopper, I wanted to share a few retailers, books, and thoughts that have been swirling around in my outfitting and reading life... First up, a new retailer that I'm online flirting with Cuyana Their catalog is so elegant, and low-key, very much playing in the chic neutral pond that I enjoy. Plus I'm slowly falling in love with this bag-- This Leather Backpack can also be a shoulder bag, how versatile. This has gone up on my Pinterest Board " Things I Crave "!!!! Also currently hanging out on that board are these men's pleather shorts from Zara ! These shorts are kind of ridic, but I also kind of love them... they are sold out, but the idea of browsing in the men's department isn't ridiculous at all. I'm a big fan of both Zara and Forever 21's male section.  But enough about retail fantasies for myself, let's move on to baby girl!   N...

Shirtdress as Poetry

dress- Noir via Le Tote , belt-Gap(more belts here ), loafers- G.H. Bass , necklace-vintage, ring-similar here from Bauble Bar , sunnies-Target(similarish here ) Yes, it's been a while since my last post. When I'm not working I tend not to blog, which means I had four days off work, and also off from outfitting. Yes, it's true I sometimes just wear clothes... But I'm back and with a chic vengeance in this shirtdress from my latest tote! First, this is a totes professional frock and even though it had a tie-belt attached to it, I further belted for a more cinched/fitted silhouette. And DAMN I look especially svelte in that last shot, right? Beyond the fine figure I'm able to cut in this dress, I'm also really digging the pattern and how it calls to the season. The photorealistic  print "cut through" with black, nicely mirrors the chillier spring we've been having here, as of last week. A mix of light and dark, fres...
