Staying Brighter Longer

Hello Friends! It's been an extremely long break from posting, but now that we've gained an hour of sunshine I'm feeling rejuvenated and motivated to capture outfit pics to post for those of you still left and interested. The main reason for my blogging hiatus was that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last fall. I had surgery to remove my thyroid and after follow-up all signs point to being cancer-free!!! However, this has left my throat and voice effected. Thankfully I have lots of turtlenecks and collared shirts to coverup my surgery scar for the time being as I continue to heal and recovery.  I hope you all know deep down, that while I wasn't posting I most certainly was still outfitting, case in point....  coat-H&M(similar here ), vest-Asos(more options here and here ), shirt-Wildfang(similar here ), skirt- Mimu Maxi  leggings- Spanx , rings- Mejuri , earrings- Amazon mask/chain- MASKC This outfit is a direct inspiration from this Vogue article. Long Drapey Layers

coatigan- Le Tote , dress-Anthropologie(similar here ), skirt leggings- Mimu Maxi , sandals-Zara(similar here ), necklace- Le Tote Yesterday's post was all bright n' bold florals. Here, is a darker take on spring style. This faux-wrap tunic/dress makes a great layering piece, and creates some interesting angles when matched with my trusty skirt leggings and checkered coatigan. Also, this "necklace" is actually a bracelet, which you can see when you click on the link above. And lastly, if you're in the Pittsburgh area this evening and in need of some poetry, I'm reading at Carlow University as part of the Red Dog Reading Series!

Versatile Cardigan

I want to address, what I'm dubbing the VBL aka the Visible Bra Line. It's such a pain that certain fabrics "reveal" the bra. Of course there's nothing to be ashamed about acknowledging the fact that half the population wears bras. But, it does distract from the line of the outfit.  But, who is the real culprit, the shirt, or the bra? Maybe a different, t-shirt bra would have been a better choice, but I feel my figure is better served with an underwire bra. If I come across a solution, I'll let you know. Now, onto the rest of the pics! cardi- Jack by BB Dakota (similarish here from ModCloth ), skirt leggings- MIMU MAXI , tank- Mango , flats- Dr. Scholls , necklace-Gift/Vintage, watch-Micheal Kors(similar here )  As you can see I've worn this cardigan three different ways. First, as a wrap-tie sweater, then open and loose, and in the end simply tied in the front. I've had this cardi for YEARS and it's a g...

Yes, Another Smock Dress

These past couple of months back at work after being on maternity leave, have been transitional in a variety of ways. Not only have I been getting back into my professional groove and finding the new weekday routine, I've also been coming back to myself and figuring out who I am  now as a working mother/a mother in general, and of course my physical body is still in transition. So, one way I've been "coming back to myself" is through outfitting, duh! And I'm looking for clothing that suits my style, which is veering toward functional simplicity, so I've ordered this dress! Mimu Maxi I was eyeing up the olive version in this post  last month, but alas it was sold out so, I opted for the denim take. And yes I've been on a bit of a smock dress kick, but why the heck not?! You can't beat a throw-on-and-go type of garment, and this silhouette serves my body very well at the moment.  I've been a fan of Mimu Maxi for a while after having purc...
