A Sort of Matching Set

I love a matching set for warmer days. Don't get me wrong, a cozy loungewear set is great for curling up when it's cold out, but for being out and about in spring and summer, having a go to top and bottom to just throw on makes outfitting so much easier. I've featured various sets here , here , and here . On this day in May I took a slightly different approach.  sweater / shorts --Quince, tee-Kansas City Kitty(similar here ), sneakers-H&M(similar here ) While this sweater and pair of shorts aren't EXACT matches, the fact that they are from the same brand in the same-ish tone makes them easy pieces to match up. I featured this tee-shirt last June, here . It's a bit more cropped then I normally go for in tees, but these elastic waisted bottoms make for an easy wearing and I love how the graphic is framed when the sweater is worn over the shoulders. This makes for a handy AC trick here this spring and summer. Use the sweater as an "accessory" then pop it ...

Summer Stripes

A couple weeks past, when being outside here in Pittsburgh was slightly more tolerable, I donned these linen pants, sheer tee, and threw a cashmere sweater over my shoulders for a blue tonal look thats giving Sunday brunch just as easily as casual office. You may recall these pants from a post last summer when I was feeling the Diane Keaton of it all.  Slightly different take here.  sweater-Madewell(similar here ), tee-Anthorpologie(similar here ), pants-Boden(similar here ), Sneakers-Zara(similar here ), earrings-- The Seedy Merchant on Etsy I think the back view of this outfit is the most dynamic with the surprise pairing of stripes and the mirrored drape of both the sweater and tee-shirt. Sweaters are oddly essential for surviving modern summers where freezing AC seems to be ubiquitous. And while yes you can stash a cardi in your bag to throw on when needed, I prefere wrapping it around the waist or shoulders as part of the overall outfit, as long as it's not too bulky or...

Red Shoe Season

These red flats are the cherry on top (or is it bottom?) for this outfit. Red is trending this season and while it may seem outdated, I still do love a "pop of color" shoe to polish up a look.  What say you? Too gimmicky or right on point?  cardi-Gap(similar here ), top/pants-Boden(similar here and here ), flats- Chinese Laundry via Nordstrom With fall officially here and the brisk temperatures sweater weather has arrived! And what better sweater than a cardigan?! I wore this in a  post  from last month, and it's still a great transitional piece, especially paired with these linen trousers last seen  here .  What's your favorite sweater weather outfit? What's your favorite red piece for fall?

Diane Keaton Era

What a summer it has been. Busy, hectic, and hot since school let out. And between work, day camps, and trying to soak in all of the summer fun I feel I'm finally old enough now to begin my Diane Keaton Era!  Hats, trousers, button-downs galore!  Shirt & Hat--Old Navy( here and here ), Trousers--Boden(similar here and here ), Sandals--Marc Fisher via Nordstrom (similar here and here ), Sunnies-- Diff Eyewear , Bag--Fossil(similar here ) This shirt is actually part of matching set with shorts, but it perfectly pairs with these blue linen trousers, a purchase from last summer. The black buttons on these pants dictated the black accessories for a very chic feeling outfit. I say feel versus look, because I was definitely feeling my chic self in this outfit.  I'm enjoying more coverage, even with this hot hot summer.  Obviously fabric is key, I probably be living in linen from now until mid-September.
