She's Going to Stevie Nicks, but What is She Going to Wear!

My dear lovely husband for the month of my birth has gotten us two tickets to see Stevie Nicks when she rolls into town here this September!! As any time when plans are made the next question is what will I wear?  Since it's my birthday and it's Stevie I'm thinking I may have to Rent the Runway for the concert. 1.  Adam Lippes Collective This floral number has been on my wish list with Rent the Runway for awhile. Not for any particular occasion, but just as an option come what may. I like the higher neck and the summery feel it has, it's for sure giving me Silver Springs vibes, but is it witchy enough?  2. Maje This midi has side cutouts, sheer sleeves, a half-skirt, and definitely has a dark romance vibe more up the Stevie Nicks alley.  I think also, since the concert is in September the cutouts and lighter fabric would work better in the still summer weather. But I'm not feeling a particular song with this pick, but I think it's an overall solid contender.

Utility Jumpsuit

I've said it before and I'm saying it again here. When in doubt, jumpsuit it out! In these dog days of summer who doesn't long for that perfect, throw-it-on-and-go piece that requires next-to-no thought, holds up against whatever the day throws at you, and makes a subtle style statement.  Not only does she look cool she mothers too!   jumpsuit- Universal Standard , sunnies- Versace , sneakers- Vans  This jumpsuit for sure delivers on the both the style and functionality fronts. It's an unexpected statement piece, and unlike other knit black jumpsuits that you see so often on these streets ( here & here ), this one-piece has structure and definition. The stiffer silhouette, with snaps, a collar, and pockets provide a lean fit and gives this look a sense of utilitarian authority. I've worn it out and about, as well as to work, and for Mom-ing duties.

Summer Fun Vibe Uniform

What can I say friends? It's summer, it's hot, it's sticky, I'm probably spending too much time in the sun and outfitting can be exhausting, especially when hitting up the river trail, a brewery, and then Target--typical Saturday agenda here lately. Here are some more simple separates that are doing the work. 👷  Now for a bag switch! Actions shots ahead.... tank- T-Shirt Wholesaler , shorts- Levi's , hat- Gap , sunnies- Diff Eyewear , necklace- Mejuri , bag- Everlane , sandals-Target(more options here ) Again, is this a LOOK 👀to turn heads? No, it's a tank top and jorts. But the jewelry, hat, bag, and sunglasses elevate these separates if not into an outfit per se, at least into a summer fun vibe uniform.

Simple Summer Separates

Apparently July 4th was the globally hottest day since a day in August of 2016. A hot summer is not the best conditions for outfitting, especially if you're in and out of AC. Putting together office appropriate looks has been challenging here as of late. I'm just not feeling very inspired, so I've turned toward some simple separates.  cardigan/bottoms-Banana Republic(similar here and here ), top- Gap , sunnies--Versace(similar here ), necklaces- Mejuri , flats- Allbirds Is this look setting the world on fire? No, climate change is taking care of that. But it's getting the job done, quite literally. I've worn this look to work at least once a week here as of late. The cardi and bottoms are both from Banana Republic and kind of create a "soft suit". I've had this cardigan for years and these drawstring linen pants were purchased in last summer's coastal-grandma craze. I've turned to mock-turtle tank tops versus standard tanks for the office. A
