Outfits Not Just Clothes

coat/shirt-H&M(similar here and here ), sweater-Nasty Gal(similar here ), jeans- Gap , loafers-Zara(similar here ), bag- Longchamp The official start of Fall is a week and a half away, but the chillier days here in Pittsburgh mean that Autumn has truly arrived! With this season comes on of my all time favorite patterns--PLAID!!!! As seen here , here , and here !  I've two variations of plaid in this OOTD. The coat is a checkered print, while the shirt is of the window-pane variety.  I'm also loving the idea of white jeans for fall this season. Very crisp and chic, no?

sweater-Nasty Gal(similar here ), dress-Forever 21(similar here ), flats- Dr. Scholls , cuff-Vintage  I am LOVING the drama this dress has going on. We had a lot of fun with the movement shots and trying to get the best "arch". Needless to say some unintended flashing occurred, but hey my photographer is my husband so he enjoyed it. 😉  Beyond the impact of the swirling skirt, this outfit also contrasts a darkly romantic print (pale pink roses on a black background) with some straight-up punk-rock pieces--the shredded-back sweater and studded cuff. Worn together they create an edgy feminine feel, don't you agree? And I'm super pumped to be wearing a piece from Nasty Ga l  on the eve of the premiere of Girl Boss on Netflix . Check out this featurette below and mark some time in your weekend schedule to binge watch all the 13 episodes!   

It's time for one of my all time favorite summer activities! No, not bbq and fireworks, but the mid-summer/4th of July sales!!! There are bargains to be had everywhere you turn and I've already scored some deals here this past week!  From Zara 's Sale: Waistband Trousers Oversized Tee From J.Crew : Linen Shorts Side-Slit Tee And a few pieces I'm thinking of from ModCloth : ModCloth T-Shirt Dress Chambray Tunic True, these pieces are a bit "basic" but I'm thinking of the 80/20 Wardrobe Plan . 80% of your closet serves as foundation/workhorse pieces with 20% consisting of statement, more fanciful items. I had the option of adding an mystery accessory to my dress rental and they sent this necklace, which is gorgeous. Instead of wearing it with the dress I mixed things up and wore it with an everyday/work outfit to add a bit of glam. The distressed sweater brings in a punk rock element as the post title suggests, while also toning down the girliness of the top, which had a somewhat revealing neckline that I felt was a bit too much cleavage for an average day. It's important to remember that outfits are 360 degrees. The back and sides, are just as important as the front. I really enjoy the impact this look had from the rear view.
