Black & Navy Flowers thru Windowpanes

On a warmish day here recently, I had some fun with a eclectic outfit for the daycare pickup run.  coatigan- Nordstrom Rack , sweater-Mango(similar here ), pants-Uniqlo(similar here ), combat boots-Nordstrom(similar here ), ring- Skelton Jewelry , lips- MAC nail- tenoverten I've never been one to shy away from an eclectic OOTD, as seen here and here . For this outfit I layered a cropped sweater top under a coatigan as a mid-layer then shed my overcoat for a few quick pics on the way to daycare pickup. These pull-on flannel pants are such a fun take on winter loungewear. The print suggests a more springtime vibe, but the dark colors and fabric are right in line with winterwear. The combat boots, dark lip, and darker nail give the overall look a bit of edge, while the ring is a subtle accessory, no need for any other jewelry. Was this a bit much for a school run? Do the teachers, kids, and other parents even notice?  Am I wearing elevated clown pants? Should I have stood...

Personal Style as Personal Expression

blazer-J.Crew(similar here ), shirt-Anthropologie(similar here ), pants-Uniqlo(similar here ), flats- Gap I'll readily admit that I don't really feel like myself without my personal style. Lately my style has been wavering (at least in my own estimation) as my body is still transitioning/settling after having baby #2. Not being able to fit into my clothes, especially workwear, has given my self esteem quite a blow, which you can read more about here .  Also, what the F is happening with my hair?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I only feel good about myself when I look a certain way. OR, that I need to look a certain way in order to have self worth. What I'm saying that I'm currently in the midst of negotiating a new sense of myself(what with motherhood and getting older in general) and how I want/can reflect/express that in my personal style.  Speaking of which, this OOTD is yet another iteration of m...

ModCloth Style Gallery

I recently started posting on ModCloth's Style Gallery (I know, took me long enough) and here are my OOTD pics thus far (with links to the original posts): Windowpanes & Leather Birds & Sea Creatures More Than a Vest A Case for Dresses & Socks What an an eclectic mix of styles on display, if I do say so myself. 😉 And while I may have "aged out" of the ModCloth core demographic they are still part of my retail roster when I'm looking for basics, like the olive tunic in the top pick, and something with a bit of feminine flair, like this retro-inspired dress .  Be sure to follow me on the Style Gallery here !

Windowpanes & Leather

coatigan-via Le Tote , tunic- ModCloth , pants/boots-Zara(similar here ), scarf-J.Crew Factory(similar here ) Currently experiencing a mid-winter thaw here in Pittsburgh, so I'm busting out some outerwear alternatives like this coatigan ! I matched up the windowpane pattern with this infinity scarf for a fun mirrored effective, then went with an edgy bottom half in leather pants and Chelsea boots. One of my favorite and unexpected color combinations, is black n' white with earth tones, like this olive tunic and burgundy shoes. Sure, it's really chic and graphic to stick with just black and white, but to switch things up you can throw in at least one, or two other shades in the mix.
