Phoenix Boutique

Went on an impromptu shopping trip a few Saturdays a go and took some dressing-room selfies. You may recall my post about  Pavement . From there I stepped over to  Phoenix Boutique  a high end consignment store in Lawrenceville.  This top still had the tags, from C/MEO Collective (more options here and the same top over at Poshmark ) original price--$150(!) so a huge deal at $30. I didn't get the skirt because I have similar skirts and I don't wear a ton of skirts. This top will probably become a regular player with the upcoming warmer weather. As you can see I kept my hiking sweat pants and sneakers on for these try-ons because I'm classy like that!  Anthropologie (similar here , here , and here ) Played around with layering this sheer turtleneck under a cropped, boxy top, not really feeling it. This tweedy, fringed piece stayed at the store.  Look at her in leather! Bit of a struggle to get this off, she also stayed at the store. Another NWT item fr...

Goodbye Pavement

This past weekend I visited one of my favorite shops here in Pittsburgh, Pavement  in Lawrenceville. Unfortunately this was my last visit, as it's closing here on March 31st . I first discovered this store back in 2013 making occasional visits and always finding great items, as seen here , here , and here . I even did a write-up on the store way back in 2014 for the now defunct Union Hall Times. So, while I'm sad to see them go, I'm hoping for the best for the owner and her next chapter. Definitely glad I got in once last visit. Here are a few dressing rooms pics! I really wanted to love this dress for the pattern, length, and pockets, but the neckline and top half were off fit-wise. Which is a shame since this dress went great with my Bombas socks. 😜🧦 top--Boden(similar here ) skirt-- Three Dots Cute, right?! Look at her! Did I question whether or not I was too old for this top/skirt combo? Yes, of course I did. Did I let that stop me from purchasing both, hell no! Wil...

April Buys

With some too-good-to-past-up-sale here as of late I've added to my springtime wardrobe with the hopes that Spring will eventual make it's way to Pittsburgh. The forecast is looking good for the rest of this week! I had two main edicts guiding me in the following purchases. 1. Non-Maternity pieces that I could wear now in my 3rd trimester. 2 Potential garments for my return to work in the fall when my body will be in "flux". First up, a few pieces from H&M Long-Sleeved Tunic Olives and military greens are always a favorite of mine for early spring and transitional seasons in general. Loving the longer length of this tunic, which can be worn with maternity leggings now, and trousers in a six months time.  Pull-On Pants Speaking of trousers, hello pull-on pants! I'm a big advocate of pull-on pants for the post-baby body. I have at least half-a-dozen pairs from Uniqlo  and wanted to see how the H&M version holds up. This dark br...

Amazon Shops

My relationship with Amazon first began as a great resource for cheap used books, then became my  go-to for drugstore items, then Christmas Shopping. Recently, I've been finding myself searchingh for fashion... or at least clothing that suits my needs. Which lead to me my two favorite shops right now  Mordernmiss & Iconic Luxe You may recall my striped and pocketed Iconic Luxe dress from this post . Here are a few more knit frocks I have an eye on: Embroidered Bib Dress Cotton Shirt Dress Knit Smock Dress Striped Midi Fit n' Flare This last one is basically the same dress I already have, but in grey. 😀 What can I say, I like what I like.  Overall, as you can see they offer basic easy-to-wear dresses with pockets that are a great starting point for an outfit, or just something to throw on before heading to the store! For casual clothes with a bit of a boho, Japanese-inspired twist, like the top from this post ,  Mordenmiss has some ...

ModCloth Style Gallery

I recently started posting on ModCloth's Style Gallery (I know, took me long enough) and here are my OOTD pics thus far (with links to the original posts): Windowpanes & Leather Birds & Sea Creatures More Than a Vest A Case for Dresses & Socks What an an eclectic mix of styles on display, if I do say so myself. 😉 And while I may have "aged out" of the ModCloth core demographic they are still part of my retail roster when I'm looking for basics, like the olive tunic in the top pick, and something with a bit of feminine flair, like this retro-inspired dress .  Be sure to follow me on the Style Gallery here !

My 2018 Must Haves

The weather is finally starting to break here in Pittsburgh, so OOTDs are coming soon! In the meantime I've started by my Shopping List of Must Haves for 2018. Carrier Bag This crossbody/shoulder bag hybrid from Moop is more than I usually spend on a day bag, but I'm ready to invest and upgrade! The neutral grey and waxed canvas makes this versatile and highly functional, both of which are must-have features for my Must-Haves of 2018, Momma ain't playin!  Waterproof Boot Speaking of functional and versatile, I'm in the market for a black, waterproof boot! This option from Nordstrom has tread and is nondescript is a good way, as in it doesn't look like a snowboot, just a neutral black boot, perfect for the office in winter. I'm very much over wearing a functional pair of shoes to get to work, then changing into a stylish pair for being at work. I want footwear that can serve me all day long. That's not asking too much, right? Vest Dre...

Gift Guide Part 1 Rituals

It's always a pleasure to find a new company/brand/product/website especially at this time of year when searching for unique gifts. Thanks to a beauty article in the October issue of Glamour I came across Rituals -- Inspired by the wisdom and ancient traditions of Asian cultures, we created an extensive collection of luxurious yet affordable products for home and body. We hope to enrich your life using unique signature fragrances that are carefully designed and composed by the world’s finest perfumers. So far I have these items in my cart as potential gifts: Night Balm for Hands I'm thinking of picking up several bottles of this night balm for those "just in case" for when someone unexpected surprises with a present and you feel obligated to gift in return. Also, this will be great for daycare teachers, work friends, the neighbor lady who gets the mail when you're out of town, etc.   Mini Fragrance Sticks Hello, hostess gift! Especially f...

The Last Buys

Today is the LAST day I will be able to shop for clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. You may recall a couple of years ago I went on a year-long shopping hiatus and it changed my whole strategy towards shopping, outfitting, and body image--all in good ways. Well tomorrow, my birthday, begins another year-long "fast" from the retail world. Why another go, you may ask? Well, there are several reasons, but first some of my very last buys for 2016!!! Uniqlo I just can't seem to stay away from flannel shirt dresses(seen here ), and I love how they've styled it on the model, will definitely give this a go in my outiftting. Plus I feel a flannel shirt dress is a "new classic" like the LBD or trench coat, a piece that you can wear for 20+ years.  Ines da le Fressange for Uniqlo Hello novelty print! This is so fall/early-winter I can hardly stand it! I had to order a medium, which was my "old" size, sort of... this may end up getting returne...
