Fall Layers

Yep that is A LOT of collar action! Granted the green of the bracelet and the aqua-blue of the ring don't really "go" but I think they play nicely off each other.  shirt/dress- Uniqlo (similar here and more dresses here ), blazer / vest - J.Crew , bracelet/ring- Cookie Lee , loafers-Target(similar here ) So I've been experimenting with layers, both for fun and function as the mornings and evenings are getting chillier and chiller. Here I have a button-down shirt, under a dress with a blazer topped by an outerwear type vest(as opposed to a suiting vest). In this post , I wore a lightweight knit under a button-down shirt for an extra layer of warmth. I'm really trying to put off pulling out my winter coats until I absolutely have to, because by the time March rolls around I'm really sick of wearing them. If I can hold off until December that would be ideal. So yeah, I'm playing the layer game for the foreseea...

Fall 2014 Must-Haves

I really didn't pay much attention to the NYFW shows earlier this month, but I'll eventually sort through them at some point. Until then I've started my Fall/Pre-Winter must-haves wishlist: Gap Gap Uniqlo Mango So yeah, I'm feeling black jeans and chelsea boots from Gap's new " Dress Normal" campaign.  And I'm also really digging the idea of vests, both in terms of warmth/utility, and also as a suiting alternative. Going into winter I'll be in the market for a mixed media coat, something that's elegant, but also functional. I have my eye on this option: Asos The mix of textures gives this visual interest, which is essential for a winter coat that gets worn day in and day out. Plus, this looks really warm while still be super chic.  To check out more pieces I have my eye on follow my Things I Crave board over on Pinterest here .

Short-Sleeved Sweater

I got a manicure on vacation, a rarity indeed, it's been like 5 years(!!!!) since my last one.  This is a scarf/vest hybrid type of garment, last seen here .  jacket-Mikkat Marget(similar here ), sweater- BCBG via Le Tote , scarf-BCBG(similar here ), pants- Gap , necklace-Forever 21(similar here ), watch- Nixon via Urban Outfitters , ring- Jewel Mint bracelet- Le Tote Yes, this is the same jacket from yesterday's post , BUT that doesn't mean I wore it for two outfits in a row. Come on, I'm no outfitting amateur over here. Anyway, I love the idea of a short-sleeved sweater for fall, great for wearing under jackets and blazers without feeling too bulky, and even though this was a Le Tote piece I've decided to keep it. I'm thinking it would work well over LBDs and button-down shirts later in the season.  Also, I think this fall is going to be strong on black, white, grey, and beige for me. I've been readi...

Autumn Buys

Now that I'm back to shopping I've started making some strategic purchases for my fall look.  Gap These are going to be a staple this autumn for my casual uniform. I was really inspired by the Burberry Men's spring 2014 collection, which I highlighted in this post .  So keep an eye out for dark on the bottom, bright on the top outfit posts in the coming months.  For office wear I'll be rocking these plaid beauties... Uniqlo ...with suiting basics like this functional and fashionable blazer. Gap I haven't quite decided on my standard cocktail/dressy look for this fall, but as soon as I do you'll be the first to know blog readers! What's on your Fall shopping list?

Fall 2014 Keeps on Rolling

Last week I had a brief glimpse at the New York Fashion Week collections and made some predictions here .  I've had a few more ganders and here are some looks/designers/trends I'm feeling.  Alexandre Herchcovitch I enjoy everything about this look, especially the kooky glasses, but mostly this sleeveless coat-like dress.  It's a statement piece in a neutral shade that can be worn alone or layered over standard basics.  Alice & Olivia Completely opposite from the minimalist look above, but does echo menswear inspiration. Two things spring to mind: 1)Hello "Party" Suit!  2)The pattern of the blazer and trouser obviously matches, but also contrasts... very clever!   Belstaff Throwing you for a loop here, Belstaff is actually apart of London's Fashion week happening right now. I loved EVERY look of this collection. Talk about coat porn. Here's another one for you! Belstaff I predicted androgyny would be a theme/trend for Fal...
