Madlady

Madlady by bernadetteulsamer featuring dannijo necklace Madmen is back!!!!  The best commentary on the show is over at Tom and Lorenzo . Not only do they do episode commentary they have full-on wardrobe breakdowns as well, to die for!  Anyway, I've been a fan of the show and its style from the get-go.  I'm not a huge wearer of vintage and it is something I appreciate more so than partake in. I prefer to outfit around the feel of the show, the sleek and more masculine style of Don and Roger.  So above is my take on dressing like a Madlady or Madwoman if you prefer, androgynous and fierce!

Holiday Party Outfit

Holiday Party Outfit by bernadetteulsamer featuring balmain Now that the turkey carcass has been buried and twinkly lights are sprouting up faster than Black Friday door busters I'm starting to think about outfitting for the upcoming holiday festivities.  There's always the inclination to sport either red or green(Lord help anyone who does both in the same outfit) and you also see a lot of sparkle and glitter.  I'm thinking for this year I'm going to focus on navy/blue. Navy, especially is a dressy/sophisticated color and a lot less obnoxious then some other holiday options.  Also, instead of sparkle I'm thinking of going for pattern.  The above, would be an ideal holiday party outfit, chic, interesting, festive, and light years away from the dreaded Christmas sweater.  Or maybe I'll  say "f it!" and just wear a tacky sweater :    because it's getting cold outside.

Images via Style.com Band of Outsiders Bottega Veneta     Marni   Saint Laurent (as its now called...)   Balmain   GANT (this image via Tom & Lorenzo )   I'm definitely feeling androgyny, which is a look/style that I've always gravitated toward, even as a little girl wearing my dad's hunting flannels.  There's just something about a crisp pant and blazer that does it for me. Of course, with menswear its advised to provide contrast with feminine pieces, which I get. You don't want to look like drag king, but on the other hand, a woman in men's clothes head-to-toe can be kind of chic.  Here's a pic of me Summer 2011 in Ireland rocking all sorts of men's wear:   Action shot!   Now, I'm wearing women's clothes, but the styling here is all about menswear. Sure I could have balanced it out with a blo...
