Outfits Not Just Clothes

The days have been hot and hazy here in Pittsburgh. We are currently experiencing a mild break, but there were many weeks in a row of hitting 90 degrees. High summer indeed! With this type of weather, comfort and function are key. It doesn't get more functional (or stylish) than this t-shirt and skirt combo.  tee- Universal Standard , skirt-Wildfang (more options here ), sunnies-Versace(more options here ), tote-Handsome(more merch here ), sandals-Target(similar here ) Yes, this skirt has adjustable buttons to cinch and loosen at the waist! Both the skirt and tee are from brands that deliver quality in the fabric department. Material is becoming more and more important for me, as I get older.  Especially with these high-heat summers synthetic fabrics just don't cut it. Give me linen and cotton that are easily washable and don't wear out or lose shape after a couple of laundry cycles.  And yes, I'm craving fall very hard and starting to plan my looks for when the leaves ...

This past weekend I visited one of my favorite shops here in Pittsburgh, Pavement  in Lawrenceville. Unfortunately this was my last visit, as it's closing here on March 31st . I first discovered this store back in 2013 making occasional visits and always finding great items, as seen here , here , and here . I even did a write-up on the store way back in 2014 for the now defunct Union Hall Times. So, while I'm sad to see them go, I'm hoping for the best for the owner and her next chapter. Definitely glad I got in once last visit. Here are a few dressing rooms pics! I really wanted to love this dress for the pattern, length, and pockets, but the neckline and top half were off fit-wise. I've recently discovered a new online store and blog  WILDFANG  that features tees, shirts, pants, and outerwear for us Tomboys with style! So obvie I'm over-the-moon for this brand and gobbling up their Ultimate Jogger Fit Guide among other posts and browsing their wares. I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my first order: Tee Pant That t-shirt says it all, right? Now it turns out, the pants I ordered above were out of stock in my size, so I got a very nice email from Samala with apologies and options (I LOVE options) to A) get the pants in a size up or down from the one I originally ordered, B) pick another item on the site of equal or lesser value, or C) drop the pants from my order and get a refund. I choose B and asked for these babies to be shipped!  Shorts Flamingo-print drawstring shorts, sign me up please! These shorts are on sale, and may not be available, and if so I asked for a different size in the pants above. Waiting to hear back ...
