Outfits Not Just Clothes

We are in the midst of a freezing January day after some major snowfall and school closures.  But LAST week was much more mild and sunshiney and we got some outfit pics featuring my new favorite cardigan!  cardigan- Nordstrom Rack , shirt-Woolrich(similar here ), pants / necklace -J.Crew Factory, sunnies- Diff Eyewear , boots-Nordstrom(similar here ), socks- Bombas I think it's clear from these pictures that the center-part is not doing much for me. Sorry, I'm a geriatric millennial and side-parting all the way baby! As for the outfit, this shirt and pants pairing is a great base for the cardigan and boots. The bold pink stripe is really making this sweater pop and a squared-toe and neutral hue is an unexpected shoe choice for winter.  You could swap out those pieces with other statement items, like a blazer and loafers and change up the vibe of the whole look while still being grounded.  I think for winter, you need to be strategic when outfit planning, and while ...

trousers /"vest" --Banana Republic(similarish here via Poshmark ), shirt- Woolrich , shoes-Sole Society(similarish here ) Summer can be a challenging time for stylish office wear. Standard suiting is too heavy, even with blazing AC, a navy wool blazer and pants, just feels "off" seasonally speaking. I've always been a big fan of the "safari chic" aesthetic for warm-weather work-wear. This "vest" fits that bill nicely, running along that lines of professional, while also having a utility type vibe.  I've use quotation marks on the word vest, because I'm not 100 on whether this technically IS a vest, or a sleeveless blazer... the epaulets, pocket placement, and general silhouette give the feeling of a jacket, no? Paired with this open-front vest it creates a very modern and relaxed "suit" which is perfect for work and quite chic. Keeping the laid-back chic train rolling is this blouse with its silk front, and knit sleeves and back. Yes, you read that tag above correctly, this shirt is from Woolrich, which is a brand I've enjoyed rediscovering here as of late. Their higher-end designer partnerships work as a luxurious counter to their standard flannel. Woolrich is definitely going on my fall shopping list come September.  But for now it's May, the flowers are blooming the sun is shining and I'm living for all things culotted and cropped in the outfitting weeks to come! 

Now that the holidays are over and done with and its time to settle in for winter I can't help but crave some warm and rugged apparel...    Woolrich Shirt-Jacket   Free People Embroidered Dress Uniqlo Knee Socks   American Apparel Long Underwear   I actually have these in black and they are great for around the house. Of course, after a few cups of tea/glasses of wine they can be a cumbersome if you know what I mean... Lands End Fair Isle Peruvian Hat    Lands End Combat Boot Without being conscious of it, I think all of these pieces have potential to make one awesome rugged chic outfit.  I am so loving the Free People dress with the Shirt Jacket from Woolrich .
