What I COULD Have Worn 2020

This year the holiday season has been VERY different with nada holiday parties or gatherings on the calendar. Unlike year's pasts with multiple work parties, visiting friends, family dinners, and New Year's celebrations, this December found us staying home keeping it low key. On some of these past  nights when the kids were put to bed and a glass of wine was poured, I found myself combatting the boredom by playing dress-up with outfits I WOULD have worn to a holiday shindig, and hopefully will wear to festivities in 2021... blouse- Gap , jeans- Levi's , heels-Nine West(similar here ) This simple blouse and jeans look would have been perfect for a family potluck.  And I found these clip-on earrings when cleaning out the attic! I have no clue where they are from...But I stumbled upon this site-- NonPiercedEarring s suit-Asos(similar here ), turtleneck-Gap(similar here ), heels-Nine West(similar here ) necklace-Jewel Mint(available here from Poshmark ) This ombre suit would h...

Fall Flannel

Or should I say winter flannel as we woke up yesterday to falling snow, well I guess there's "fall" in that.  😉😊 Just a little novelty pendant, the dear/antler theme is so right-on for fall! shirtdress/boots-Nordstrom(similar here  and here ) wrap top-eShakti(more options here ), pants-Zara(similar here ), necklace-Forever 21(something fun here ), ring- Skelton Jewelr y I last featured this flannel midi in this post and I'm struck by how different the styling is between these two outfits.  In the earlier look I leaned into the casual modern grunge vibe of this flannel. Here I went with an edgy layered take that is still casual, but feels more polished. One of the challenges with this dress is the length and side-slits. You can't really wear it solo, like a dress, nor can you tuck it in like a shirt. I've done some fancy half-tug here and added this cropped wrap top to create a more fitted silhouette. Proportion can be tricky with oversized pieces and it de...

Fun Shorts Friday Out of Office

t-shirt- Pavement , shorts-Forever 21(similar here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , slides-Old Navy(similar options here ) After 9 weeks of posting fun shorts, this is my 1st repeat. I first featured these men's drawstring shorts here . For this go round of #funshortsfriday I've paired them with a t-shirt for our times from a local shop Pavement  which I wrote about forever ago here . I'm trying to shop more local and support small businesses, especially those owned by women. When I saw this tee on online I coudln't resist, it's just too perfect. Everyone on my Zoom meetings loves it.  Happy Friday!

Fun Shorts Friday Tropical Edition

T-shirt-Gap(similar here ), shorts-Forever 21 Men(similar here ), shoes- Native Shoes , bracelet- Aid Through Trade Posted this to Instagram last Friday, but didn't get around to getting up on the blog until THIS Friday, but the concept is still the same. Embrace the end of the workweek and the laid back vibes of summer in short form. For this week I went with a tropical theme in these drawstring men's shorts from Forever21 . Yep these are boy shorts! If you're a fan of novelty prints and/or quirky style, then I highly recommend checking out the men's section, especially for drawstring shorts. The patterns are just (if not more) dynamic, they are comfortable, have pockets, and come in longer lengths. Too often, from my experience, women's patterned shorts can be quite short and ride up in uncomfortable and unflattering ways. Of course, every body is different and you have to consider what works for you. These shorts are definitely working for me!  You can look at p...
