Outfits Not Just Clothes

I love a matching set for warmer days. Don't get me wrong, a cozy loungewear set is great for curling up when it's cold out, but for being out and about in spring and summer, having a go to top and bottom to just throw on makes outfitting so much easier. I've featured various sets here , here , and here . On this day in May I took a slightly different approach.  sweater / shorts --Quince, tee-Kansas City Kitty(similar here ), sneakers-H&M(similar here ) While this sweater and pair of shorts aren't EXACT matches, the fact that they are from the same brand in the same-ish tone makes them easy pieces to match up. I featured this tee-shirt last June, here . It's a bit more cropped then I normally go for in tees, but these elastic waisted bottoms make for an easy wearing and I love how the graphic is framed when the sweater is worn over the shoulders. This makes for a handy AC trick here this spring and summer. Use the sweater as an "accessory" then pop it ...

 I've had this classic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress since 2009! I originally  posted it was in 2014  here !  Now 12 years, a masters degree, and two kids later it's still going strong! trench-Gap(similar here ), dress-Diane von Furstenberg(similar here ), pants-Uniqlo(similar here ), necklace-Banana Republic(similar here ), bracelet / ring -Ana Luisa, bralette- Three Bird Nest , boots-Vince Camuto (similar here via DSW) And apparently I also had this trench back then because I wore it with this dress in the original post! I was 33 in the above pick and wearing heels! Now at 45 I'm still rocking this wrap, but in a more eclectic take with the layering over pants and bralette. Who wore it better? 33-year-old me or 45-year-old me? 

If you look closely (and there are close up shots below) I'm sporting a pretty little cherry blossom pin last seen here , that fit right through preexisting openings in this doily-esque collar. Putting a bit of dainty spin on this preppy, semi-tailored, totally nautical outfit.  blazer-Tory Burch(similar here ), top-Boden(similar here ), pants- Everlane , pin- Shiny Apple , loafers- Madewell I picked up this designer blazer second hand at the Fashion Fix Boutique  and I first featured this number several years ago here . It never fails to polish up a look, and while oversized blazers are more on trend, a fitted tailored traditional blazer helps provide shape and balance to these barrel leg pants. 

On this last day of April I wanted to share this ready-for-the-rain outfit! Wore this on what we starting calling a "Cutey Day" when you go to cute shops, drink cute coffee, buy cute things, have a cute look. We explored one of our favorite neighbors, Lawrenceville and shopped small.  rain jacket--Asos(similar here ), overalls- Cider , shirt-Gap(similar here ), sunnies- Diff Eyewear , earrings-- Amazon , necklace-- Boheme Vendor , boots-Nordstrom(similar here ) I usually wear these overalls in the fall, as seen in this post here . But they are actually kind of ideal for spring, no? Went with a basic top, pop-of-color boots, and black floral jewelry. The polka dot rain coat, was of necessity, but I think it actually works for a fun bit of pattern mixing/contrast.  Check out the shop small/shop local haul over on Instagram here .
