My 2018 Must Haves

The weather is finally starting to break here in Pittsburgh, so OOTDs are coming soon! In the meantime I've started by my Shopping List of Must Haves for 2018.

This crossbody/shoulder bag hybrid from Moop is more than I usually spend on a day bag, but I'm ready to invest and upgrade! The neutral grey and waxed canvas makes this versatile and highly functional, both of which are must-have features for my Must-Haves of 2018, Momma ain't playin!

Speaking of functional and versatile, I'm in the market for a black, waterproof boot! This option from Nordstrom has tread and is nondescript is a good way, as in it doesn't look like a snowboot, just a neutral black boot, perfect for the office in winter. I'm very much over wearing a functional pair of shoes to get to work, then changing into a stylish pair for being at work. I want footwear that can serve me all day long. That's not asking too much, right?

In my ongoing quest for dresses with pockets, this boho number is on my Amazon wish list. You may recall the 90's-esque drapey top also from Mordenmiss in this post. In exploring their other products this "vest dress" caught my eye. Love how it's shown here as a layering piece, bringing some schmatta drama to my winter-wear. Come Spring/Summer I can wear it on it's own, as a quick thrown-on-and-go frock.

For a bit of pretty I have my eye on this wrap blouse from Wren & Ivory. It also come in a grey and mustard... decisions, decisions... Again, I see the versatility in this for both work and for a dressier weekend look.

This is just the start of my shopping strategy for the coming year, you can check out some pieces I've already picked up in last week's post here

Happy Shopping!

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. And here are some pics of former rentals over the last few years: Nanette Lapore Elie Tahari Elie Tahari Robert Rodriguez Halston Heritage Interesting in renting something for yourself here this summer, use this link , to get $20 off your first rental. You're welcome!

Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
