Fall Buys!

Autumn is right around the corner, and there's no season I like better than fall! The turning of the weather, the orange-drenched sunsets, the crisp smell in the air, and of course autumnal style is right up my alley!

Soon, I will begin another year-long hiatus from shopping, more to come. So, I've been stocking up on garments for the fall/winter. Here are some of my best finds:

First up, dresses!

What's more fall, than a plaid shift? Loving the color palette of grey and pink, which will transition into winter and early spring of 2017. #stylestrategy

Do I already have several LBDs? Yes, but I don't have a really quality black sweater-dress with pockets. Pockets are key!

This midi-shift is definitely outside my usual style wheelhouse. I'm loving the 30's-esque print and the flared sleeves, I see them poking out of a navy blazer come fall.

Can one have too much plaid? Hell's to the no! This shirtdress-tunic hybrid is giving me 90's teenage nostalgia realness (!!!) and while it's a bit cazh for the office, I see this getting a lot of weekend use with leggings and boots.

And of course, you need a few pairs of trousers:

These are similar to a pair of navy satin culottes I picked up at ridiculous mark-down over the summer. I'm not sure how practical a culotte will be post-October, but I HAVE THEM and I think they'll get some play at a holiday gathering, or two.

I love Gap cords. I have a pair in red, seen here, that are currently hanging tight as my body continues in it's transition towards pre-pregnancy form. In the mean time, I'll have to satiate my need for ribbed pants with this navy, "baby" boot-cut pair.

And of course I've picked up more Uniqlo pull-on pants. These trousers have served me so well. They are comfortable, functional, flattering, and stylish! I, of course, got a pair in plaid, while these bird-printed pants are my poetic swan song to summer. As the birds migrate south leaving behind grey skies, so will my pants signal a fond farewell to the care-away days of summertime. DAMN I LOVE FALL!

On a practical note:

This crossbody bag is a replacement to one I've had for years that's been falling apart. Seen here.

Blazers are so my jam, and what fall wardrobe would be complete without one? This version is a bit boxy, and I think will pair sickeningly with the bird pants above. Plus, more pockets!

This pintucked popvoer is a fem alternative to the standard button-downs that I usually sport. Hoping this version will be less gap-prone at the bust than my menswear-inspired shirts have been. Again, body still in transition...the joys of motherhood....

And for some fun:

From the men's department, this galaxy-sleeved sweatshirt is so f*cking cool! And fun, and I can't live off plaids, pintucks, and practical pants alone, now can I? What are some of your favorite fall finds?

Two Things

First: Isabel Marant's collocation for H&M debuts today in select stores AND online at noon, so you may want to get up on that.  Here are a few looks I'm lusting after. Hello mixed patterns!   Love the oversized coat and the detail on these jeans.   Patterned blazer, cropped colorful trousers, yes please!   Of course, I cannot partake in this collection with my Year Of No Shopping, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. So get ready to go by noon because I'm sure this noise will sell out fast.   Number Two: I'm thinking about a new haircut.  Something along the lines of Tilda Swinton .     What do we think? I'm not going to go blond, but I like the shorter/buzzed sides and back with length on the top. Mr. Keller is hesitant, he thinks it's too masculine, but I'm kind of in the mood to go a bit edgy and I've had the same cut now for two-ish years...  FYI: Tilda Swinton is my spirit animal!

Nasty Gal

Since the weather has been horrible I've been consoling myself with online shopping. And have made my first purchase with Nasty Gal : Lacy Chiffon Blouse Yuma Studded Blouse Alva Knit Dotted Stud Blouse Apparently I'm having a button-up shirt craving. I think all three of these shirts could work with the sweater, which is an alternative to your basic pull-over and may be a bit too edgy for work. But, I'm thinking a conservative wool trousers would nicely balance it out.  And in writing this I've come to the realization that my work "uniform" for the rest of the winter will focus on mixing edgy pieces, (or items with unexpected details) with conservative basics.  That might not always actually happen, but it's a good starting off point in planning a week's office wear.  Okay, enough of my pontificating, go check out the sale over at Nasty Gal there are some great deals to be had.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a
