 It's no secret that I love color like orange and blue n' green combos! And even though I just did a post about how I'm leaning toward more black n' white ensembles for late summer I couldn't resist pairing up this recently purchased shirt with these cropped trousers and blazer. This is pretty much my go-to uniform of colorful crops, patterned shirt, and blazer. It's the color and accessories here that keeps things interesting. Both necklace and shoes are from designer collabs with budget-friendly retailers. I love scoring pieces from these one-off mashups of high and low brands, they are great opportunities to get interesting items at low-cost. Next one up is Target with Joseph Altuzarra. The lookbook is very promising.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
