Dresses and Steps Part 1

I am standing on the steps to the bridge that connects pedestrian traffic from Pius St. to 15th in the South Side.  It allows those of us living in the slopes a (somewhat) easy route over the railroad tracks to the flats.  Pittsburgh has tone of stone steps throughout the city and SouthSide has its fair share.  There's even a book about it, here.   As for my dress, I picked this shirt dress up on sale at Lands End's Canvas collection and once my shopping ban is over I may have to pick up some of their t-shirts and chambray button-downs.  I kept the country/rugged vibe of the dress going with my military green vest last seen here and here.  The boots (last seen here) are flat and warm and prefect for trekking up and down from the slopes to the flats.   And even though it was a bit warm over the weekend I still needed a hat, scarf, and gloves.  Spring isn't here just yet.

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
