Every month I receive a beauty sampler box from BirchBox for the basement bargain price of $10.

They usually have a theme for each box and there's always a nice variety of products.

I think this is just genius.  You get to try all sorts of different products for a very minimal price AND discover new products and brands you might not have heard of.  Case in point:

I have purchased these two products after having a test run from my Birch Box sample.  These brands were not even on my radar and they have definitely added a lot to my beauty routine.  The microfoliant is my new shower face cleanser.  Also, there are tutorial videos on the site showing you how to use the products to their best advantage.  Thanks goodness because I had not clue how to properly use and clean the beauty blender sponge.

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look.
